Has anyone on the board enrolled in the CSU DBA. I had the opportunity to speak at lenght to the Dean of Graduate studies who explained the entire program to me. The cost will run between $24,000 to $27,000 and that depend on the number of classes that will need to be repeated. This cost also includes books. At the time I spoke with him there were only 6 students enrolled in the program. The price is almost the same as NCU the only difference I see is that CSU is not RA.
American CSU = Columbia Southern University, accredited by DETC out of Orange Beach, Alabama - currently partaking in the DETC Doctrate pilot program. (one he is reffering to) Other CSU = Australian Uni - Charles Sturt University , also big DL university and probably considered GAAP for their DBA through equivalent US reviewers and on par with a regionally accredited doctorate.
Their brochure indicates that each of the courses have a proctored final exam. Has anyone verified this with the school? I don't have a problem with this unless you travel for a living. Being on the road makes it a challenge to arrange proctors when you complete a class.
We're not talking about the unaccredited albeit California state approved Central State University, now, are we?
From what I have heard so far I think I would choose the American one as I have not heard such good comments about the Australian one.
No I was talking about Columbia Southern University I think that might have changed, based on my conversation there are exams but the Dean did not mentioned anything about the exam being proctored. He indicated that they are taken online. Each course has 2 to 3 exams and 1 or 2 papers.
Well at least I will be enrolling for the American one, the one in Australia from what I have heard tied up with an agent in Asia who kept on asking for money from its students.
That was an unhappy student from Malaysia. I'm sure there were extenuating circumstances. I am near completing the down under CSU degree direct and it has been rigorous, consistent good advising, and in general have only had a positive experience. I would take an international fully accepted degree anytime over a maybe to be possibly accredited US program. My opinion. BH
Although I have heard some negative things about Sturt, I would consider Sturt before Columbia Southern for a DBA. Sturt is GAAP and IMHO a foreign doctorate will not be as frowned upon as a DETC one(although I'm sure they both have bias).
I spoke with Dr. Gray today regarding this issue. Each faculty member has the option of having a proctured final exam. If the exam has to be procture it has to be an unbiased third party, such as faculty member, priest or you can go to your local libray and have the librarian procture the exam. The procture can not be a family member. In addition, since I last spoke with him, they have done away with the six quizzes. Each course which is broken into 6 modules, wil have 2 section exams, an article critique or case study and possibly a final.
