Re: Re: This is a timely question.

Or you could say, "I chose the M.A. Leadership degree because in a game of follow the leader, I'd rather lead than follow." ;)

    pugbelly,

I know you're not knocking MBAs. I acknowledge the fact that MBAs are a dime a dozen.

In your case, you should pursue a leadership degree. The way I look at it is this: You are in an executive position. You've been in middle management positions. Your current position would be comparable to, say, a field grade officer in the Army (Major or above). Field grade officers do not need to attend schooling or training that's geared toward junior officers (lieutenants and captains) that focus on tactical leadership - such as Officer Basic Course or Advanced Officer Course. Field grade officers who want to further their career would usually attend the Army War College, which focuses more on the strategic level. An MS in Leadership would be the equivalent.

I think you're right. The only reservation I have is this...what if I decide to make a career change? Will the M.A. Leadership still be the right degree, or would the MBA be better? Tough decisions. Maybe a hybrid like FHSU's MBA in Leadership makes sense.

Holy thread necromancy! You resurrected a nine year old thread. I have since finished the BA, chose a MS in Organizational Performance and finished that, took some time off and am now loooking at doctorates for personal enrichment!
