    Team,

I am not quite familiar with the US tuition fee system.

In Australia, an MBA (on or off-campus) usually consists of 12 units/subjects at approximately US$1,300 per unit = US$15,000 for a middle-of-the-road MBA from an approved, semi-government owned university.

In the USA, you have this tuition by the credit-hour method which I do not understand.

How many credit-hour in an MBA? and how much for the average credit-hour?

    Help

MBA's can be between 33 and 48 credits. The cost could range from $200 per credit to $600 pre credit.

credit hours is a generic term. Credit is calculated on semester hours, quarter hours, contact hours, and a number of other methods. Semester hours is probably most common in the US these days.

1 semester hour of credit is equal to 1 hour per week of instruction over the course of a semster. There are generally two primary semesters per year (fall and spring) though "summer semsters" are not uncommon. Some use the calculation 1 semester = 16 contact hours.

3 semester hour classes are typical but 1, 2, and 4 hour classes are not uncommon.

The typical master's degree requires between 30 and 46 semester hours of credit for completion. 36 hours is fairly common. This equates to "about" 10 - 15 courses.

It seems to me that $250 per semester hour is about the bottom typical cost of an RA DL MBA. That would be $7500 - $11,500 USD. There are programs that push near $100,000 and evertything in between. It's impossible to give an answer to "how much for the average credit-hour" but one can say $250 on the low end and several thousand on the very high end with $500 not be uncommon at all.

On the undergraduate level, it's not uncommon to find tuition per semester hour at under $100 and I'm sure that there is an MBA program out there somewhere that is in that price-range.

To put that example in US MBA terms:
Each of those 12 units/subjects would be a 3 credit class so we're about equal in that respect. Your 12 units = our 36 semester hours. At least in simplest terms.

At $300 per semester hour (high end of in-state public university tuition) each 3 hour class would cost roughly $900 = $10,800 USD

I can't coment on whether the content of a US MBA and an Aus. MBA is equivalent, I suspect that it is.
