First off a little background. I’m currently finishing up my BS at Excelsior and I’m now looking into various MS programs. My field of interest is within IT or IT Management. I've looked at, and like, many aspects of Aspen’s MS in IT but I understand the limitations of a Nationally Accredited degree (primarily teaching in the future).

All that being said one of the RA programs I’m looking at is the MS in IT Management at Touro University . My question/concern is with the learning model that Touro uses. It appears to be mostly, or possibly all, writing. I don’t have a huge fear of writing, but I’m also not that great at it. For anyone that’s attended Touro what were your impressions of the course work? Was grading based on writing style, content, or a combination? How much writing was expected for a given course? How many courses did you take at once?

A friend of mine did his MBA completely online at this school.
From what he told me, they basically ask you to read posted articles and write over five reaction papers (about five pages each) throughout the course and a final project about a topic that relates to the material covered in class. I think you are also asked to participate briefly in a discussion forum.

By the way, some of their courses include live lectures. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have attended TUI at the undergrad and graduate level and their learning model is based on writing. You will have to write 5 case papers (5 pages each) and 5 session long project papers (4-5 pages each) for each class. You also have to participate in the threaded discussions with your classmates. All video lectures are provided on the CD they provide and all reading material is found on the internet.

I found the grading to be different depending on the professor. Some didn't pay to much attention to writing style just content, others would comment on the writing style and deduct in some cases.

The trick at TUI is to not fall behind. If you stay caught up and on track the workload is manageable. If you fall behind and you're looking at having to work on several modules at once it becomes daunting.

I do want to say that I have enjoyed my time at TUI very much and have never seen a college that shows as much concern for their student’s success as TUI. They are very willing to work with you and I have always received quick responses to my inquiries.

Let me know if you need anything else.
