I thought about AMU, but opted for another school because AMU looked a little too military for me. More importantly, if AMU has 35 full-time faculty then how many part-time faculty are at AMU? How many students at AMU? And how are AMU p/t teachers paid (per course or some other arrangement)? Another issue was the RA. I hope AMU gets RA because it seems to truly deserve RA. But I wish they would have provided some of the answers to my questions about the AMU faculty.

So, on May 8 I'll be looking for good news about AMUs RA from NCA.

We have more than 300 adjunct members who teach at least one course per year for us. They are paid for each course on a per-student basis. We allow up to 20 students per course, but will increase to 25 for certain courses. Per-student payment ranges from $125-135 per student. Graduate level professors must have a doctorate or meet exceptional experience/achievement standards (per accreditation guidelines), and undergrad profs much have at least a master's or exceptional...
We have awarded more than 2,500 degrees since the first in 1995; at present, we have more than 14,000 active students, which counts those who have taken a course in the past year or are currently in or registered for an upcoming course. About 85% of our students are in the military (active or reserve) and the rest are primarily from the public service, law enforcement, homeland security, intelligence, and related communities.

I have never attended a for-profit university, but I would consider AMU as they seem to be one of the few for-profit's IMO that has some integrity and seem to be a good university that is not solely focused focused on stock prices.

I interviewed for a Program Director position at APUS the other day and there were numerous hypothetical questions about how I would integrate Doctoral studies into the program. Other things I have heard and seen indicate to me it is coming in the near future.

That makes me happy because I think its somewhat easy to forget that APU/AMU is a for profit because they have great prices, a good rep, and a large selection of classes.

Where is the great rep? I am not saying anything bad about the school, I just never heard anything exceptional about them. Does "no bad press" equal a good rep?

I guess in a sick and twisted way it does. How does that old joke go about the bridge builder who slept with a sheep . . . it not what you do rather than what your are known for.

Well, from what I have heard and read, they seem to get good reviews and are held in high regard with the government. And since I want to work for the government, that works out great for me.
