Glad to see there are so many NYIT folks on here! Where has everyone been? No bad stories though which is definitly a plus!

I'm a proud Ellis MBA student!

Only 5 more courses for MBA w/ Management of Tech specialty! I really enjoy the online experience at Ellis. Their Web interface is top notch with great content delivery, cases, multimedia, forums, and chat rooms.

The tuition is pricey. I am receiving 50% reimbursement from my employer. Total will be $15K roughly for me. This program has 5 very strong features in my view:

    1) NYIT is a well respected B&M
    2) Most of the MBA courses were developed in conjunction with top business schools (Standford, Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, U. of Chicago, and London School of Econ). This adds a level of quality and real-world relevance to the courses! Every course but one so far has been very challenging and enjoyable (One course was not up to par w/ the others).
    3) Instructors are motivated, knowledgeable, experienced, challenging, and helpful.
    4) Web Interface is excellent and undergoes improvements often.
    5) Diploma and transcripts are from NYIT w/o mention of Online Degree. Plus, participation in the annual graduation ceremony tops it off nicely.

I do not know about the quality of any of the other Bachelors or Masters programs other than the MBA. However, if they are anything like what I've experienced, I'd highly recommend it. The only thing missing is AASCB accreditation. Also, the content is dated from 2000 - 2003. I think it is due for an update soon!

    Good luck!

Thank you for the in-depth info. I am probably going with them, BUT as I said in an earlier post my admission person was calling me 10 times a day (no joke). That situation made me think twice about this College. They should cool it with the "hard sale" Bull, the school speaks for itself

The admission person said that although there is no mention on this being "online" the transcript refers to Ellis College of the NYIT.
IMHO I don't really care as it is given through NTIT.
And yes the annual graduation with the rank and file is a nice touch.. HELL why not, right!

However, I do wish there was a BA/BS student on the boards to give some undergrad info..

By the way, are you using a student loan for the $15,000?

    Thanks again.
    :p

Oh and one more thing - This school has one of the most spectacular campus in all of NY!

Also, they invented 3D animation, the have great Architectural School and in the field of Technology they are second to none in NY. Maybe MIT has a better reputation, but trust me when I tell you in NY everyone and every company knows who they are!

"Maybe MIT has a better reputation"

    I wonder why that is?

I think we all know about MIT. I was just trying to tell everyone that this is a very good school. Not MIT or Cal Tech, but very reputable.

    Re:

Yes, I am doing a student loan for the $15K.

I can understand the issue with the many phone calls. I have a similar incident where I received a quote to buy $20K in computer equipment. I haven't got the approval from the boss yet. However, the sales rep has been calling and calling about an answer and it is annoying. Perhaps you should just tell them that you are already considering the school but the many phone calls might dissuade you from actually doing it and going with another school. Just a thought. There are many other online programs out there and I'm sure they also have similar benefits to offer.

The funny thing is I already told them there is a really good chance I will be going with them.

I have a some things going on with George Washington University. I am tracking with them on a BS of Emergency Health Services BUT they never call...Where's the love!

Cost will be the deciding factor I think. After Military TA I would be paying around $300 a month myself . It is about the same for both schools (maybe 20-40 dollars difference)..

I like the NYIT thing, but they may be killing it.

I had to write to the admin person and tell them to STOP CALLING every 5 seconds.. Soon after it stopped (until today that is)

    AHH!

What did you decide to go with in the end?

Well, I have decided to go with Thomas Edison (for now) to get some TECEP tests under my belt then make some kind of decision.

If the school (TESC) gives me what I am looking for with regards to transfer credit I MAY stay with them and do the BS/BA in Human Services.

Ellis is quite agressive with their marketing and constant phone calls and that is a bit scary. :(

Ellis will also cost me extra cash every month over military TA.
