For Randall1234, PhD2B and Connie or others in the grad programs: Has anyone taken FIN5014, FIN 5016 or FIN5018? Hard/easy? Interesting? How long did you take to do the work? You are allowed 12 weeks, could you do it in 6 or 8 if you were dedicated? I need to take a class but only have a short window between teaching and vacation and need to complete the work in-between. Any help would be appreciated.
I haven't taken any of the FIN courses. Sorry I can't give you any insight. I think BinkWile is in the finance PhD program and may be able to offer you some insight. As far as the timeline to complete a course – each course is in fact a maximum of 12-weeks long, but you can complete courses as fast as you are capable. I completed one course in two months, but since these courses require a lot of work, I usually take my time.
No FIN courses for me as well. 12 week semesters, first of the month start dates. You can accelerate your semester. Working on a course 5/6 days a week, I completed one in about 6 weeks.
I would advise against this, for me, the NCU courses take all of the time allotted. Unless you are savvy in Business Finance matters, it will be difficult to master this in a shorter time frame. Even the courses that I would have considered to be less difficult demand a great amount of effort.
