Anyone know anything about this school? They're RA and appear to have some very interesting self-designed degree options...and their literature suggests A TON of flexibility with regard to transfer credits and life experience, even education earmed at unaccredited schools.

Regionally accredited by the New England Association, and part of the University System of New Hampshire.

About as legitimate as it gets, I just wish they offered more programs.

    Low tuition too

The tuition rate is pretty good too, especially for out of state students.

They have a self designed BA where a student can major, if I understand their literature correctly, in a field the university doesn't even offer.

I'm a student at GSC. The responses in this thread are correct. I'll add that they do, on a case-by-case basis, accept DETC credit. They have a growing number of online offerings and recently inaugarated their first totally online degree. Most of their classes are worth four credits, something that is important for cost consideration.

    Any more questions?

    Bob,

How liberal are they when it comes to selecting your own major in their self-design degree? Could one major in religious studies? Multi-family property management? Is the self-design degree option available online?

    pugbelly,

I think they are pretty flexible about outcomes within the self-design option, but I doubt that option is available for online study, although that is an interesting question. You would think that an online self-designed degree would logically follow their increasing number of online course offerings as well as their liberal acceptance of transfer credit. I'll ask them both questions next week and post the replies. Or you can call the school @ 603.228.3000.

Looks interesting. Is the DL program accelerated or standard? The web site says that they take CLEP's and you only need to take 30 credit hours there to graduate. If most classes are 4 hours it shouldn't take long for a BS. I've got my AAS from a state college and a bunch of credits from 2 other local college's. I'm shooting them an email.

I don't believe their DL degree is accelerated. And having a 30 hr residency requirement for a Bachelor's is not at all unusual, I believe. Let me know if you don't get a response.

I guess you're right about the 30 hrs., but they seem to be much more liberal about transfer credits than most other schools.

I haven't found the time to give them a call yet. Bob, any luck on your end with the online self-design question?

To follow up my own question with an answer, I spoke to the school today...yes, the self=design BA or BS is offered via distance. I am waiting to hear back from the appropriate department head on the particulars.

    pugbelly,

Sorry for the delay and lack of repsonse. I got caught up in midterms after trying twice to reach my local admininstrator and then forgetting you question by mistake. A poor excuse to be sure, but I'm still adjusting my time management and prioritization skills after being out of school for two years due to Iraq, divorce and New Orleans. Seems I totally underestimated how different things would be with repect to school, having taken on a double full load to make up for lost time and then withdrawing from one class with another looking pretty shaky! Once again I apologize. I'll have it together shortly.
