    Evidently not. I'm 32, and none of those sound familiar, and I watched my share of television as a kid.

    Gregg

    Gregg was injured in an accident and was subsequently hospitalized. I am told he is recovering and we send our prayers his way.

    That will explain Gregg's absence.

    Thanks!

    I just wanted to add, that while I mostly lurk here, the information available here has been invaluable to me and I am sure to countless other individuals. I am well on my way to finishing my B.S. and I owe a lot to this forum. It was here that I found out about the school I am attending. It was here that I gained much of my inspiration to go back and pursue my degree, and it is here that I can get a pick me up any time I feel my motivation slipping. Yes, I owe this forum a great deal, and I sincerely thank you all!!!

    If I may...there is no correlation between number of posts and the posts value.

    One ex-member measured his accomplishments by the nuer of his posts - regardless of what value the posts had. The same person retired at 20 years of military service at the same level most achieve in 3-5 years - and was constantly alluding to his years of service - but not his accomplishments during that time.

    It's not only quantity, but quality.

    Jim;

    Just guessing, but retiring at 20 with a rank most people achieve in 3 - 5 years usually means an officer with many years of prior enlisted service before commissioning. A number of these folks retire as Captains (O-3), or sometimes Major's (O-4). Is this what you were talking about?

    If so, it's not a direct comparison, though I can certainly agree that quantity doesn't always equal quality. For example, in the enlisted chain, 3 - 5 years would equate to E-4 or E-5, not a common retirement rank. An officer's career path starting as a commissioned type would likely result (if continued to 20) in O-4/O-5 or higher at retirement.

    "Mustang" officers (prior enlisted) are a different breed, depending on when they start their commissioned career. For the record, I’m an E-7 (AF, MSgt, Senior NCO), and perfectly happy with that status. Nor, believe me, am I claiming that these folks somehow make better officers (I have scars to prove it, based on some “impassioned” discussions with these individuals). It is, however, a different career path.

    my tangential contribution...

    My dad retired from the navy after 20 years. He was a CWO3 when he retired.

    Don't know how good that is, but when I toured a ship in NC I could see one huge advantage. Warrant officers had a LOT more room in their living quarters.

    Last time I looked, senior warrants were among the most "unsung heros" in the military. ;)
