would you please advice regarding Akamai university PhD by research. according to Oregon "Operates legally in Hawaii as of May, 2005. ODA has no evidence that this is an accredited or otherwise acceptable provider of postsecondary education meeting Oregon standards". is it a good PhD to perform? taking into consideration cost as a limited factor

A search here for "Akamai" found 666 hits* -- if you still have interest, you might want to look at some of these.

It's hard to know what to say to you without knowing what subject you want to study and why you want to earn a doctorate.

Akamai is not a conventional American university. It receives very little recognition domestically or internationally. If you want a doctorate with broad acceptance by the scholarly and professional communities, then you probably need to look elsewhere.

But Akamai does have some interesting people teaching for it. It might have some value for people who don't have a degree objective or who want to study something avocationally.

My impression (I have no inside information) is that Akamai is kind of an umbrella, offering an institutional affiliation and a degree granting mechanism to a collection of independent scholars who basically operate their own programs and do their own thing. Some of them are more credible than others.

A Pacific Rim Knightsbridge-like University with a Greenwich University/International University of Professional Studies heritage?

I would like to study PhD in investment, finance and related to economic development. I may use this qualification for teaching as well as consultant services (I’m looking for lower tuition fee)

Where do you live? Some residency may be involved which could affect your options.

    Cheers,

The risk is not worth it. There are much safer alternatives out there.

if 666 is the sign of the beast...

Does that mean that -0.809 is the sine of the beast?

Actually I think it is the cosine of the Beast. Wouldn't the sine of the Beast be -1.376381.

(But I am half a century removed from Miss Mazziotta's high school trig class, so my confidence level is not supreme.)
