    Steve,

There is several UK Business Schools that offer an MBA entry system for those without a Bachelors; Henley, Strathclyde and Birmingham spring to mind.

Not sure about Australia and South Africa.

    All the best,

That line is starting to blur, I think...

I have worked in all three sectors -- private, non-profit and (presently) in the public sector. I have to admit that I came to this position expecting a 'cushy' government job and a 37.5 hour work week. In my current position, I work far more hours than I did in the private sector (many, many late nights and weekends) and under much greater pressure. This is the norm here -- not an exception. So much for that laid back cushy job that I was expecting!

I am in HR and struggled between the MPA and the MBA, too. My heart is with the nonprofit world, so an MPA would have been a very good fit. However, I believe that the MBA offers me a great deal more flexibility than would an MPA and is easily transferable and will garner an equal amount of respect in any of the three sectors.

Good luck with whichever direction you choose!

    CPA

I didn't realize that they had "gutted" the CPA exam. My home state (Colorado) is one of the few states that hasn't mandated the 150 hour rule. You can still become a CPA here with a BS and one year experience. However, they allow you to short circuit the one year of experience IFF (if and only if) you meet the 150 hour requirement.

What that means is that you can wear the CPA designation in Colorado straight out of college, with zero experience. To me, that is SCARY.
