Dave, no need to get all worked up. I completely disagree with your OPINION. I was merely stating mine. That's all, nothing personal.

    Thank you Sir!

I agree 100% Miguel! Calling Democrats things like "Anti-American will merely unify our party more. So I say to our Republicans brothers and sisters, keep it up!

Have a good New Year Everyone!

    Hmmm,

Who is getting worked up? :D Things are good in my world and I hope in yours!

I respect those who disagree but can debate with facts and reason. I do think it is important to correct misrepresentations and that is what I have done in this thread.

Yeah I guess that was rather direct but unfortunately accurate. It was backed up with just a few of the examples of Democrats doing exactly that. Again I would LIKE to see an effective Democratic party that would propose real alternatives and not just tear away at the choices America has made. I think they could make a real contribution and not just be negitive force.

    Happy New Year Dave!

I will merely close with the words of a very wise man, "I have never heard a wrong opinion."

I must be going blind in my old age. I was wondering what kind of fish a buckfish is.

Its good to be loyal, and I admire your loyalty to your party and I dont really care for name calling. I think, most of the time, people on the left love their country and have a strong belief. I think there belief of what it stands for is wrong, but you cant argue with belief or faith and I always admire patriotism.

BUT, you hold a less than majority of the VOTING populus. You have to attract new people. You have been clearing gettting your arse kicked in national elections for quite a while. I mean the republicains own everything, and if you dont get a message with a meaning out there you will continue to loose heavilty. At least untill the Republicains take it too far, then thing will start to swing back, but if we go too far right, then what is moderate now will be leftest and democarates will be the mainstream. The tide will change at that point, but for right now the Republicains are closer to mainstream voting people, so you will continue to loose. I know people will scream the mainstream is not the rich, but the "party of the poor" slogan is really crap when you see how things break down. There are more "rich" people who are democrates than republicain. Check the census.

Also, the population shift will hurt you over the next couple of decades. States that vote to the right like mine, NC, are growing alot. The New England states are growing, but the rate is slower and they are losing congeressional seat, hence electoral votes. This will help shift more advantage to the republicains. I think they MAY clean house in november and they may tell the Dem. Senators that they dont need them to even come to work. Remeber if they go below 40 they cant filibuster and that is there sole tactic at this point. If that happen, buy stock in Klenex.

That argument really makes sense to me. You said a mouthful without being offensive to anybody. Maybe I should go easier on the name calling with GWB, but it is a lot easier when such a classy and polite line of reasoning is used.

Of course there are. After all, the smarter one is the richer one becomes. ;) - A joke for Pete's sake, don't make a federal case out of it.

I hear what your saying Lou. The Dems know this also, believe me. In the next month there will be a clear message/plan of action delivered by the Dems, and they will repeat it over, and over again. I am excited with the elections coming up in 2006.

Although the Republicans are in power right now, that can also change. Here in California, Arnold Scharznegger came in as a larger than life figure. He figured he would just come right in do whatever he wanted. He became arrogant and power drunk, calling prominent Dems girlie men, stooges, and who nows what else. He liked to say things like "I am always kicking their butts" to public servants like nurses, firefighters, police, etc. "If they don't cooperate, I will take it to the people" he said.

As a labor leader/Activist, members were coming up to me saying, when are you going to clean the Gov's clock!!! How can you allow him to call us names!!!! After many meetings, we brought in and formed coalitions with Moderate Republicans. This tactic proved very valuable. It gave us insight into the Republican "Way" or Tao, if you will.

To make a long story short, we decided to let the Gov shoot his mouth of until he hung himself. The moral of the story, never get to confident! Never underestimate your opponent. I am proud to say all of his special election items were handily defeated! This lesson can be applied on a much larger scale. The Republicans will keep calling Dems Anti-American. The flaw in that is they are calling a heck of a lot of Americans "Anti-American". Think about it.

As a Democrat, I also know we can be most succesful by applying Centrist methodologies. This was proven by Centrist Dem Mark Warren, who was elected and won the approval of Dems and Republicans. He is also said to be a presidential contender.

Anyway, I can go and on. But trust me, the Republican mantra of "All they do is criticize, but offer no solutions" will be neutralized.

    Take care brother,

All the Cons on the board have forgotten 8 years of constant partisanship and constant bagering by the righties against Clinton (and Clinton, unlike GW worked with the opposite party - even passed some of their silly legislation).

If the Dems acted like the Repubs, then they would fillibuster EVERY low-life court nominee. -- they would call for impeachment of the President for high crimes and misdeamnors (direct violation of the constitution is much more a high crime than simple civil perjury).

Cons - get over yourselves! You have proved that you are pretty much the same weasels as the Dems were - and worse. King weasels including Frist and Delay take the cake.

Time for a change - vote Libertarian - or vote for anything but Republican or Democrat.

Cant disagree with that. But I dont really think that the Reps have a serious upperhand on being Scumbags...They all wear that mantel proudly!

    M.E.

The Dems tried that and when the light was shined on them they scattered. As for impeachment, that is an empty threat. The public knows there is nothing there.

What the Dems need to do is become more rational, think through their beliefs and ideology, then stick with their values. As long as they change opinions with every political poll they have no hope of political success. Like Ispahn I believe Dems want what is best for America even if their understanding of that is confused.
