I completely forgot about my MCSE, CCNA, and CompTIA A+ certification. My MCSE was on the 4.0 track, completed in 1998. My CCNA expired 4 years ago, and my A+ is most likely expired. I intend to forward all transcripts from these to Excelsior, but does anyone have any personal experience on these in regards to credit at Excelsior? The A+ and MCSE I can easily update to a current XP track with just a few tests, so if I have to do that, I can. A lot of whether I update them or let them be is what amount of credit they would be considered for, and whether I'd have to have a "current" certification, or if just having passes the exams for said certification is enough to satisfy some credits. Thanks in advance for any info you guys can give.
CompTIA (A+) do not expire. Here is a list of the exams - https://www.excelsior.edu/portal/page?_pageid=57,192968&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL I do not tink it is for the cert - MCSE, MCP+I - the credit is for the tests.
I got credit for my MCSE NT 4.0 and my MCP+I from COSC in late 2002. COSC uses the Excelsior recommendations. I would bet you will be fine.
I got twelve credit hours for the exams which led to MSCE NT 4.0 from Charter Oak, and they received my transcript last year. Also, the exams I took are still on the list. I think you should be okay. They are pretty old, though, so I don't think I'd wait to send a transcript. -=Steve=-
I just got a copy of the current Guide to Credit by Examination, and from looking at the tests I took for my MCSE, I am eligible for up to 15 hours of credit. This is of course pending approval from Excelsior, and if there is no overlap in what each of those tests counts as credit for. If I have passed all of my CLEP exams that I have taken thus far, and if I receive a full 15 hours for my MCSE, that'd be 27 hours. I still have my AARTS transcript for military training to be evaluated. Anyone here remember what their AARTS transcripts were worth when they were evaluated and by what institution? Has anyone here followed the exam outline from BAIN4WEEKS? I plan on using it as a loose outline for taking most of my exams. I won't be taking them all in a month, but I will possibly use the order of exams since it seems they put them together to synergize the studying required.
I'm guessing your a 42A10 or 20 based on what you indicated your rank is and I don't think you will see much from your AARTS eval? Once you hit the 30 level you can get some decent academic credit. Excelsior would probably grant the ACE recommendations. http://www.militaryguides.acenet.edu/ShowAceOccupations.asp?aceid=MOS-42A-001
HA! I'm a 92F10. Although I am the clerk, so I do 42A work. I think the unit I was in was overstrength on fuelers, so they looked for someone to replace the old clerk who ETS'd. Looking at the ACE recs for my training, I have maybe 8 credits total. Not much, but still its something. I'd say 11 hours, but 3 of them are in vocational certificate category, so I don't know that they'd do much. The others may or may not work either. I will post a summarized post of where I stand on everything once I'm fully enrolled and evaluated by Excelsior for all other's reference though. Pasted below is my synopsis of what is on AARTS for a 92F10H7. BCT Recommendations: IN THE LOWER-DIVISION BACCALAUREATE/ASSOCIATE DEGREE CATEGORY, 2 SEMESTER HOURS IN PHYSICAL CONDITIONING, 2 IN MARKSMANSHIP, AND 1 IN FIRST AID. 92F AIT Recommendations: IN THE VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE CATEGORY, 3 SEMESTER HOURS IN PETROLEUM SYSTEMS OPERATION. Petroleum Vehicle Operator Course(ASI H7) IN THE LOWER-DIVISION BACCALAUREATE/ASSOCIATE DEGREE CATEGORY, 3 SEMESTER HOURS IN TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING/CERTIFICATION.
