I have a friend who has a master's degree (education) and 15 graduate hours in math. She needs 18 graduate hours in math to teach at the local community college. Does anyone know of any online/distance ed. schools that might offer a 3-credit hour class at the graduate level in mathematics that she might take? Thanks. k+
Hi - Texas A&M offers an MS in Mathematics, 100% online. It looks like they will allow someone to take an individual graduate level math course, but your friend would need to take until the summer semester. http://distance-ed.math.tamu.edu/ http://www.tamu.edu/admissions/distEd/SummerTransientStudents.html - Tom
Thanks for your reply. She's looked at the courses listed there, and seems to be intimidated by them (not sure why, exactly). I guess she also doesn't see the particular kinds of courses she needs there. Apparently distance ed. math is hard to come by.
Would Statistics be okay? I know that Kansas State offers a few graduate level stats courses online. Under $1000/course too, I think. Just look at the distance ed course schedule through Continuing Ed.
You could contact CSUDH to see if you could take one class. The MSQA program has a course in advanced probability and statistics. http://www.csudh.edu/msqa/courses.htm The University of Alabama has some online math courses that might be available http://www.engdl.uah.edu/b/index.php
