I would like to hear opinions on The Art Institute Online. I am considering their Advertising or Graphic Design program.

    Thanks,

    Diana:)

It is traditional to give a weblink when inquiring about a school. www.aionline.edu

My stepdaughter attended the Art Institute while she could afford it. She went to the Seattle campus. All I can really tell you is that the Art Institute offers programs of study that are extremely expensive, and all of the programs have corresponding AAS-type degrees in this area. She left to attend Bellevue Community College's Interior Design program for much less money.

I used to be the I.T. director for a firm that hired Art Institute Digital Design grads. The running joke was that they would have made $10/hr whether they went to AI (for $$$) or Seattle Central Community College's similar Digital Design program.

Sorry I cannot help with the online part. I just know that the Art Institute is a "fashionable" school among those who's parent have deeper pockets, but equivalent education can be had for much less money.

I agree, it is a expensive school. I guess, I was hoping to hear that it was worth the money...Thanks for the insight.

    Diana,

Please visit www.aiostudents.com and post your question there. This site was created by a student at AIO and contains several forums relating specifically to AIO. I think you'll get better feedback there. Hope this helps!

    Misty watercolor memories . . .

No invidious comparison intended, but somehow this thread reminded me of those ads for the Famous Artists School that used to appear in Popular Mechanics and such like.

I guess that was the first distance learning institution I ever heard of.

    They are still around at

Did the Famous Artists or their colleagues the Famous Writers ever appear in one of Dr. Bear's books?
