    This Guy's a Jerk!

I've mentioned this before on this forum, but it deserves another mention.

What exactly does this jerk want to accomplish? By posting these websites and attacking Capella, he just hurts anyone who has earned a degree from Capella and anyone trying to. He is basically stating that their degrees are worthless, etc.

I tried Capella before switching to NCU. I personally couldn't stand them and didn't like the class format. However, I didn't feel it was necessary to develop numerous websites devoted to destroying the institution and its image.

I think this guy has some serious issues, and I hope he will get over it.

I agree he has the right to run these sites, but that doesn't not make him an idiot.

Well said. Why would Capella allow this to continue?

I saw on Capella's site that she now claims to have master's from Californa State University. The only thing is that the California State University system has many, many schools - which one did she graduate from and when? There are 23 different universities within that system.

Regardless, Capella has allowed Diane Stottlemyer to teach for a long time. The fact that she did buy and used fake degrees is very, very disturbing. For Capella to continue to allow her to teach, considering that she bought and used bogus degrees to begin with, is also very disturbing. Other universities wouldn't knowingly tolerate such an act of fraud from their professors.

    Stottlemeyer

GME - As a Capella PhD learner, you won't have any unaccredited PhD's on your committee. 1) Capella won't allow it; 2) You select your committee.

What appears to have happened with Stottlemeyer is that she earned a Masters from California State. With her masters and her experience, Capella hired her as an adjunct in the masters program. In any university program, you are required to submit official transcripts to teach - and I can't imagine Stottlemeyer being any different. So far, so good.

Stottlemeyer then lists in her bio (faculty get to write their bios) that she has the "PhD" from Lacrosse. Not good for sure, but yet, not a death blow. Based on her Masters and her experience, she can still teach at the Masters level. If she is a good teacher, should Capella terminiate her employment? On paper - she is qualified to teach at the Masters level.

Personally, I question why anyone with a RA or DETC degree would go to a unaccredited institution, but since she's not teaching PhD courses, the "Lacrosse PhD" is not a fatal flaw against Stottlemeyer. Capella is within their rights to have her on their masters faculty.

As for the anti-Capella websites, I personally believe they are vile and disgusting. Free speech does not cover untruthful speech. Capella is not "under investigation", the OCR complaints have been settled in favor of Capella, and the comparisons of Capella administration to Nazis is an affront to all those who died at the hands of the Nazis.

But there is no such thing as "California State." Could this be just another attempt to claim a fake degree? What university within the system did she graduate from? When? What was the exact degree? As noted in another thread on this board, she also claimed a Master's degree from Lacrosse.

You certainly have a valid question - and the catalog should be clarified as to where her CSU degree is from. :)

I do take your word for it even though I didn't experience "poor student service" when I was attending. I attended UoP in the mid 90's perhaps they were doing a better job back then. Hmmm.

    Hi Susannah,

I honestly think it varies by the campus, I can speak for NVA because I worked there; very good instructors, extremely overworked and underpaid staff; it sounds like it was different where you went, which does not surprise me at all.

    Lawsuit dismissed

I know this is an old thread - but on Monday, the US District Court - Central District of California granted a motion by Capella University to dismiss the lawsuit filed by J. LaMarca. LaMarca is the person who created the multiple web sites such as Capella Nazis, and Capella University Sucks. LaMarca claimed that Capella discriminated against him due to a disabiliy.

The countersuit that Capella filed against LaMarca is still pending.

  10. I am really surprised that there are not any sites out there that bad mouth Excelsior. I personally love the school but i could find many things to make fun of and make a website about, my friends all went to B&M schools and are a little upset as to how long it took me to get my degree compared to them and the fact that no one really cares where you get your degree as long as you have one, it hurts their ego and their wallet (because of the thousands they owe in student loans)

Smart schools, and businesses for that matter, usually purchase all of the possible derogatory domain names to keep others from publishing sites like this.

For the record, the author of the referenced website is part of this thread and is currently commenting under another name. Whenever the word Capella comes into any conversation he normlly slinks out of his hole, throws a few hate filled bombs and then slinks back. :D

I found a link from the site mentioned above to a actual job posting(see link below), take a look at the educational requirements. What are your thoughts about that?

This is a very late response to questions that were posed nearly two years ago. But there appears to be an MS thesis, dated "Spring 2004", in the catalog of the Cal State - Dominguez Hills library, by an individual with the same name as the one in question.
