I just found out Thomas Edison State College has a new "Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security". It takes four classes and can be completed in two semesters. It looks interesting and all the credits can be applied towards a TESC MA in Management or MA in Liberal Arts. I will let you guys know how it goes after I start the program.

    Interesting, thanks for the information!

What is the graduate tuition at TESC now?

So if you took the certificate course...what would that make an MS in Management? An MSM with an emphasis in HS?

  4. For starters, it'd make it obscenely expensive compared to similar DL offerings from other RA institutions. TESC estimates that depending on the emphasis, an MSM will run $15K - $17K.

I will note that when TESC started offering the MSM, many students were attending on their employer's dime, and possibly weren't too worried about the price point. For their part, TESC seems to have grown accustomed to the taste...

The graduate tuition $1170 per 3 credit course.

I am not sure about this one, I will ask them.

I don't think the graduate tuition of $1170 per 3 credit course is that high. I am sure I can find several less expensive programs, however for a four course certificate I don't mind paying this amount per course.

Carlos...I dunno...for $5500 you could get an entire DEGREE...albiet not regionally accredited...but certainly DETC. AJU comes to mind at about the same price for a MSCJ, MBA or a MS in Communication.

APUS has certs to this effect and they will be a LOT cheaper...and RA soon (wanna bet?).

Michigan State has a graduate, 3-course homeland security studies certificate for $329 per graduate semester hour. It can also be taken at the undergraduate level.

Cehi: I agree with you. To pursue a 3-course certificate program at Michigan State is awhole lot cheaper ($2,961) than Penn State (http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/wc/BioterrorismPreparedness.shtml) 4-course certificate program that cost almost $8,000 ($650/Hr). These are certificate programs and not a degree program from two prominent, top-level research institutions. Mind you, Penn State also has the Master's degree program in Bio-Terror Preparedness. Thank you.
