With only 12 more units to go, I am starting to look for MBA rings. Any suggestions? Jostens or another ring manfacturer. I am looking for an executive looking ring (don't want the high school looking ring) with a real diamond (not cheap quality). -- something in the $1500 range. Any suggestions?

I got a Jostens ring and am very pleased with it. It has a wonderful warranty. If it ever wears down or gets a scratch, they will replace it for free. This is the style that I got in 2001 and I still like it a lot.

On a more serious note, I'd suggest that since you live in a large metropolitan area, there are undoubtedly people right in your neighborhood who could custom design a ring for you. It's such a personal object that I would think you'd want to sit down with them and really make sure that you get just what you want. I'm sure it will become a treasured keepsake. Good luck.

That's a good suggestion. My wife and I had our wedding rings custom made. They are exactly what we wanted, and everbody always comments on how nice they are. They ended up being more reasonable than many of the display case rings, and much nicer. I would stay away from the large chain store type jewelry stores.

    Have a good weekend!

    Your almost there Mr. Engineer!!!!

When I was doing the marketing for the Edinburgh Business School MBA, it became clear that American students wanted MBA rings. The Scots had never heard of such a thing, and could not imagine why, but they gave us the go-ahead.

There were four manufacturers that accounted for about 98% of all such rings. The only major difference among them was that three of them also made rings (and printed diplomas) for diploma mills, and one (ArtCarved) didn't, so that was our choice. But things have almost certainly changed in 11 or 12 years.

Since the University's coat of arms was to be used, we needed approval of the Royal Herald of Scotland, a rather hilarious process that took about two years. They were baffled by the request. "Next you'll be wanting to put Bonnie Prince Charlie on a banana label," someone said. But they finally gave approval, and the rings were made.

The only class ring I own is from high school, but since I went to a military HS it's a big deal, as class rings are from any military school.

Mine is from Josten's also, and I was very satisfied with their product. I haven't worn it in well over 20 years, but it looks great sitting in my gun safe. :D

I believe "Herald of Scotland" is the job description, and "Lyon King-of-Arms" is the job title.

    Pimbley's Dictionary of Heraldry* says:

Herald - An officer whose duties, among other things, consist of deciding on the proper badges or coat armor of the nobility; to grant, record and blazon arms; record genealogies, etc. The three principal English heralds are called Kings-of-Arms (or king-at-arms). The principal herald of Scotland is called Lyon King-of-Arms; of Ireland, Ulster King-of-Arms.

Hilarious! As a Brit I have to say I can empathise, I find it a little perplexing that somebody would want an MBA ring, but I am a culturally open-minded person and if that appeals to my American friends then why not! :)

Come back Gavin. That must be enough fishing for now! (And I would like you opinion of the EBS MBA delivered in Spanish).

    Peace,

I got an honors diploma, I was class president twice, and vp once. I was on both newspaper and yearbook, something that is never supposed to be allowed, and I started an online magazine that was getting 250,000 pageviews a month. I think I did pretty well in high school. I was truly happy in high school, call me an idiot, but I am not that happy in college. It's a grad prep school filled with pretentious sluts only looking for an MRS degree, and rich douchebag immature guys that are only interested in being 'players'. At least when I was in high school, most people were genuine, in my college, almost everyone is a poser.

I don't have an undergrad ring yet, probably won't now that I think about it, I'll just get a really nice fraternity ring, and when I get my MBA, I'll probably get a ring for that too.

I'm glad I noticed this thread because I was thinking about a class ring, also. I just completed a doctoral degree and have never had a ring; for high school or any of my other degrees.

I was rather wondering what other folks thought of purchasing a class ring at this late date. That is, I'm rather on the fence, at this point.

I live in a very small town, but there is a jeweler, here, who has class rings and the prices appear comparable to those of the major distributors.

Oh, and did not mean to hijack the thread, but the original post was from 2005, so I thought posting my question to the thread would be okay.
