And so it begins. The new semester kicks off in a few days. The summer break was just long enough to forget the pain of the last spring. I managed to pull off a 2-course load last semester. All the while working 60hrs/wk and traveling 4days/wk. GPA is holding at 3.8. Why not push it a bit and see if I could get away with a triple? Then I took a look at the courses. Let's see: I'me required to take a security and privacy class. It's taught by a very intense young fellow who written many books on the topic and is considered a luminary in the field. He just completed his doctorate at M.I.T. and just started teaching as a Harvard instructor. Ok then, this'll be the intense one. Let's find something light; like Internet Technologies. How hard can this be? This is taught by a new Harvard professor. She taught the course last spring for undergrads at the college. I happen to have hired a recent grad from the college so I ask for some insight. She laughs, "oh no - not what you think." Apparently it is an extensive examination of propagation, replication and caching techniques and technologies. It is a significant commitment of time. Sweet. So I stopped there. The good news is the bad news. No 3rd class, no lite-coursework. I get to be mauled and man-handled by experts with great expectations. That's the deal. The only promise is that it will not be easy. In return I may learn something. I may even lament. I'll take it. Dool
Dool, you are an inspiration to us mere mortals. Keep up the good work and best wishes for this semester. Kevin
