Newbie here with my first post! Just got back into school after a 15 year break.
Had a question about CLEP tests. What would you consider to be the easiest one? Not sure which ones I’ll be taking or need, but would like to break the ice with an easier one.

My background: I’m 37yrs old and work in law enforcement. I completed about 5 general ed type classes 15 years ago. This past summer took an online History course at my local community college. It was a great experience and taking 2 more now in the fall.

Next year plan on enrolling in a distance learning degree program at Cal State Long Beach. Before that, I need to knock out as much of my general ed requirements as I can. Hoping CLEP will work for a few of these classes. Still not sure what tests they (csulb) will accept......waiting on an email or phone call.

I’m open to all and any suggestions. Anyone have experience transferring CLEP credit to the CA State Schools?
    Thx!

Hi - Welcome to the forum. I'm no expert on CLEP exams although there are some members who might well qualify for that title. My general advice is that you should play to your strength. Assuming that you'll need to do some studying as prep for the test, you should pick one that's the most fun, most interesting to you. That way you'll have an easier time studying. Beyond all that, you might want to look at this website,

It's all about CLEP testing, etc. and might help you in your efforts.
    Best of luck.

Which subjects do you feel most comfortable with? Anything related to history or the arts was most comfortable for me so Humanities and American History were the easiest CLEPS but I still put in a fair amount of study.

You might have an easy time with the DANTES Intro to Law Enforcement and Intro to Criminal Justice.

This is the magic sentence; get a list of their accepted CLEP/DANTES exams then play to your strengths.

You`ll be amazed how fast the ride goes when you have a map and a destination.

Another approach is to assess your strengths and then choose the best school to match your situation. For example, if you have law enforcement or military experience it might be better to choose a school that gives A.C.E. credit for some of your past training.

Thanks all for the great advice.
Most important thing will be to wait and see what csulb will give me credit for. Just trying to stay a step ahead.
As far as my strengths,,,,,,most comfortable with math and science. Guess I will start there.
I’ve already taken several criminal justice courses. I have about 20 units of C.J. classes. I was just never too motivated about my general ed.
Anthonym: I’m pretty much set on my school. It’s a 2 year program. Classes are either online or at an off-site facility. Both will work for me. Also my job will work around my school schedule if I am in the csulb program. Cost right now is under $8000 including books. Just would like to have all of my GE requirements out of the way before I start.
