State of Hawaii sues Southwest International Univ

The State of Hawaii, by its Office of Consumer Protection, filed suit yesterday against Southwest International University, Inc. (a Hawaii corporation) and its principal Henry Yeh (a California resident). The suit alleges that the defendants violated various provisions of Hawaii's Unaccredited Degree Granting Institutions Law (Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 446E) and seeks injunctive relief, restitution, civil penalties and other equitable relief.

There is something interesting about schools(real or not) that sound like railway lines or defunct minor baseball leagues; Western International,Southern Pacific,Appalachian State, Western State, Columbia Union etc.

Well Done. We would like to see more violating university whereby currently running in Malaysia without approval. As what you can see AU, IIU, Cambridgeshire International and many more had been name by the Ministry of Education Malaysia as dubious university and one is from Hawaii: Akamai University.

 

While I appreciate your contribution to this thread, I would also appreciate it if you would help to clarify the information presented in the thread related to "Malaysian Distance Education Institutions." You indicated that there would be "limitations" regarding enrollment yet there was contradictory information presented indicating that there was no residency. You present yourself as being "on the ground in Malaysia" and knowledgable of these matters. Please clarify this information. Thanks.

Yes. The news was abstract from local Malaysia news paper The Star. from the content we can see that there is very difficult to stop the elearning from offering either through internet. But to those hungry and looking for fast earning dm operator, they advertise and hunting for students and claiming a lot of credential from the u that they offer like using NCES as a selling point to tell people that they are recognise by USDOE, this will misled people after reading the flyer.

 

Western State College is a good accredited liberal arts college in western Colorado and I resent your insinuation that my alma mater sounds like a defunct railway or bush league baseball proposition. Appalachian State University is a good accredited liberal arts college in western North Carolina where a cousin of mine has taught English. They likewise are not a defunct railway or baseball bush league.

Thanks Bill! And I agree with your comments. Love also the ballpark websites with old ballpark photos. Had a client who played in the old semi pro ManDak League in addition to Mexican and the PCL. He got me on that one as I had not heard of it but some great players played there in 50's. Now you didn't pitch for Boston did you?

Kind of feel the same about the rail lines with my favorite being Great Northern Railway. Heard a story once of ballpark in Mexico where railway went through outfield with doors at left and right field fences. Might be just a tall tale.
