Yes, the final exam is multiple choice!
The quizzes are multiple choice as well.

    Beware...

I am well into the fifth--and last--module of this course at Excelsior and just want to share a couple of things:

    1) I don't know where I got the idea that it was a quick 15 hour max course. Probably I read it somewhere here. Well, sorry, perhaps I am a slow reader, or I just don't want to risk wasting $250 as there is only one attempt at the final, but I am finding that although the course material is not difficult, it does have a humongous amount of required reading that, at least me, cannot do in 15 hours, nor 25...

    2) On the other hand I do recommend that it be the first course of all one takes if possible. For me it wasn't possible because the requirement didn't exist when I first started testing out years ago. But I definitively would have benefited if I had done a course like this before anything else.
I am actually getting things out of the course, especially some of the internet related pieces. Not a total waste of time for me, must admit.
Also I wasn't aware of the use and benefits of the Excelsior Virtual Library before.

In other words, the material is not difficult, BUT, it cannot be done in 15 hours , IF one does decide to do all the required readings. Unless you're a speed reader, of course.

    Re: Beware...

    Hi Will,
You got the Idea from me, But this is what I wrote:
I passed the course today with 92%.
B]It took me a week to complete the course, I spent about 15 hours reviewing the course material and taking the quizzes.[/B]
This course is very easy especially if your already familiar with some of the material covered, which I would assume most of us here are.
I said reviewing the course material, not reading every single piece of info.
Also, I stated that it is very easy if you are already familiar with some of the material:
I was already familiar with many areas covered by the course.
But if most of the material is new to you than it will certainly take more than 15 hours to cover.
On the bright side , it made it easy for you to sign up!
    Good Luck, all the best

    Pilot,

Sure, I agree, if you are already confident with the material, it can be done in 15 hours. Personally I just have this habit of going through ALL the materials, but I must admit that in the last modules I am skipping some parts of the readings because I am familiar with the stuff and it's so darn boring!

Anyways, I am planning on taking the final this Sunday at the latest. I hope I don't screw up and blow away the $250 bucks!

If meantime I receive one email from Colorado SU confirming that I am finished my Eng Comp, then I think you will soon see my degree completion message in the forum.:D

    Congratulations PhiloScholar

I just finish my requirements for INL 102 also and that was my last class needed to graduate. I ended up taking mines through LSU because I did not want to fork over that amount of money to Excelsior for just one class. This class is mainly about Library Research and how to use different tools to find what you need. It is basically a common sense course and I feel it was a waste of money. I am just glad now I can say I am finished. Whopee :D

Congratulations to those who passed this IL. My turn to try is tomorrow Sunday 2 Oct.

I did try with LSU because they were much cheaper but it required two proctored examinations, and also I didn't receive much attention when I asked them how much the required books cost as I couldn't find one of them anywhere (think it was self-published).
Anyways, with the hurricane disaster I suppose LSU might be in quite a rout at the moment.

Good luck with your final exam for this degree! Bet it feels really good to be so close to the finish line. :)

    Feels good and bad.
Bad because as soon as I finish I will have to face getting a job and, as I say, "back to reality"...Also because I realize that an AS is really a very small step in the academic world.

Good because it does open some doors, and I have put so much work and money into this that it will be a relief once I can say I'm finished.

Do they value Associate Degrees in Canada at all? I'm Spanish-Canadian so was wondering, because i don't believe they have this type of degree there.
