Wrong Clinton unless Hillary packed on the pounds in the past few months!

The Dem I'm keeping an eye on for '08 is N.M. governor Bill Richardson.

One skeleton that could bite him is/was the California energy crisis (when he was Clinton's Sec), but if that turns out not to a be a major issue he could be a player.

There were several states with a heavy Hispanic population that went a close red in '04...Richardson on the ticket (even as VP) could swing enough blue.

Just don't see it for Hillary yet...if not Richardson, IMO it'll be Edwards.

Interesting point about Richardson, but I don't see it for Edwards. Edwards was supposed to be some sort of great campaigner, but from what I saw, Dick Cheney ate his lunch during the debate.

Not Evan. He has long been something of the last best hope of the Democrats, at least in the midwest, and does have lots of name recognition in Indiana (but I think many still think they're voting for Birch), but the man makes Lieberman look charismatic. Plays the moderate at home, but his voting record is well to the left. I'm also not entirely sure he could win Indiana. He could find himself as a serious contender for the VP -- we grow lots of them here in Indiana.

    For the GOP ... Condi.

The next President of the United States will be Governor Jeb Bush of Florida.

I will contribute and campaign against him, of course, but he'll win easily against whatever vision lacking eliteist Democrat we pick.

    Even Hillary.

    ESPECIALLY Hillary!

Jeb WILL be an improvement but then Warren G. Harding would be an improvement and he's been dead for years!

I'm pretty sure Jeb has said he won't run in 2008. I agree that he will win, which I don't really mind. Jeb is the smart one we should have waited for. If he would just get off this outsourcing thing; he's cost the state a lot with those failures.
Hillary chances are akin to a compressed sphere of ice particles residing in the netherworld.

"Sorry if my use of the word "fools" for Republican voters (meaning those who have absolutely nothing to gain from the party except some weird sense of sharing of common values - like anti-gay, anti-liberal, pro-gun, anti-abortion) offends. I'm not sure what else you call people though who vote so decidedly against their own pocketbooks.

Note - not all Republican voters are "fools". Those who already have made their fortunes and are trying to hang on to them, or are in the multi-six-figure camp and above are voting Republican for very, very good reasons. As for the rest of you? Duh!"

I am sorry that you do not share the same deep love that I have for New born babies and Children. I just cannot agree with people that want to slay them. I mean, just because you think the world of everything So and So Serial killer was in the academic world or work environment, does not mean you can be on the same page with him when you find out they murder people! It is NOT a SMALL thing at all, really, life is NOT a SMALL thing.

I know what may come from my post, arguments about deaths in the ALL VOLUNTEER Military have nothing to do with killing something that is defenseless.

    Newt???

I just watched Newt Gingrich (I hope I spelled that correctly) on CSPAN. When asked if he wil be making a run for president in 2008 he responded that he has not yet decided. With Newt I like some of his views and dislike others.

Given a choice between Newt and Bill Richardson (my present self aggrandizing do nothing Governor, former self aggrandizing do nothing Secretary of Energy, self aggrandizing do nothing Ambassador to the U.N. and MY former self aggrandizing do nothing Congressman), I'd move to Canada.

Oddly, I am not so sure that it is necessarily foolish to vote against one's own wallet interests if one is convinced that the country as a WHOLE would be better off. Words I might use instead of foolish might be "altruistic", "measured", "responsible", or, in the case of Bush supporters, "misguided"!

The word you're looking for is...

"Principled," at least in many cases, and I'm not a Republican, so that's honest observation, not biased shilling.

Bill Richardson, La Voz de la Raza!

He couldn't even deliver New Mexico for Kerry and WE are about 50% hispanic.

All you hopeful Dems, listen up: There is NO SUCH THING as the American Hispanic vote.

Spanish speakers cross party lines and aways have. Cubanos have supported the GOP forever because they so hate Castro. Urban Puertorriquenos have little beyond a more-or-less shared language with Mexicans. Hondurans and Nicaraguans are NEIGHBORS but weren't able to maintain a single country between them. They are ALL different from Argentinians who are different from Peruvians who are very different from Colombians who would have something in common with Panamanians if the U.S. hadn't forced the creation of the latter from the territory of the former.

None of these folks can even easily UNDERSTAND Spaniards who often have trouble understanding each OTHER. (There's Catalan and Andalusian and Basque, which isn't even Spanish...)

Bill Richardson is a carpetbagger here in New Mexico; he's from California, I guess, and therefore very suspect to enough old line New Mexicans, not to keep him from winning the governorship from a right wing fundamentalist bible thumper, which he did, but MORE than enough to put egg on his face in 2004.

So hear this! Bill Richardson as a candidate to attract the U.S. Hispanic vote is a pipe dream!

    Re: Newt???

Not that I think it would happen, but a Newt vs. Hillary election would be like the mid-90's all over again!

I expect the right to rally around McCain after the nomination to defeat Hillary
I think they would rally around Arlen Specter.....if it meant beating Hillary.
I do think Hillary will try to get Bill
Richardson to be her veep and I would think McCain would follow suit with a surprise pick like a retired black general that no one would have thought........
It could all be in my imagination but it seems so real...............

    2008 Hopeless

Well, not to be toooo pessimistic but, if it is like the elections of 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004........
We will have two empty suits. A Republican pandering to the conservative. A Democrat pandering to the Liberals. A Republican pandering to the Neo-Con Religious nuts. A Democrat pandering to the left wing Marxist nuts.

In the end. An election of one lobbist bought slug who is actually no different than the other of whom he/she ran as an advisary.

Can anyone call God to bring back Truman or Reagan?

Clinton, McCain, Bush III, Dean, Kerry, Edwards, Rice......
If it is one of these bought and paid for clowns then maybe we can call God to help us all:(
