I would like to see Walden, Capella, Fielding, Kennedy-Western, Century, etc. Maybe even include some more categories like Unaccredited. The moderators can edit the poll from what the polls says.

Of the (so far) six people who chose African doctorates, I wonder how many chose South African schools, how many chose Liberian schools, and how many chose schools in other African countries.

You mean to tell me that you can't picture DesElms motoring out I-80 on his motorcycle between northern California and northwestern Indiana? Makes for a good pictfure, I'll say.

    DesElms on a motorcycle?

Imagine that, I do have something in common with DesElms. I ride a BMW R1100R. Riding takes hours off my commute.

I am enrolled in North central University and so far I love the education that I am receiving from there. The courses are challenging and the pace seems to be very flexible for me. I actually transferred from Walden University and so far I have no regret. Walden was very expensive and I saw myself more as a number than a human being. Also another turn off was the fact that the classes fill up too fast.

"Northcentral." "North Central University" is in Minneapolis, and is definitely different. So much so that getting this straight might make a difference on one's resume.;)

Especially since North Central University does not offer graduate level degrees.

It's interesting to discover, on the NCA website, that they changed their name after the inception of a university with a very similar name.

*Name change notes: North Central Bible College to North Central University (10/1/98)

    Cape Town, perhaps

I'm just starting my Master's in Educational Technology Leadership at George Washington University. At this point, my front runner for when I'm done is the University of Cape Town.

My research interest is the use of educational technology in the developing world, and UCT has a Centre for Educational Technology that suggests their Education faculty has this as one of their interests as well.

In the meantime, my intention is to use this Master's program as the equivalent of doctoral coursework, and consider a lit review, etc. while at this level.

Nothing's in stone, however. Comments and suggestions from this crew are welcome.

    Reason for inclusion in poll

Maybe I should have called this the inexpensive doctorate poll? Anyway, the device only lets one have 10 options. I did not mean any disrespect to anyone enrolled at Walden or Capella, or any onther institution. There are many options.

Re: NCU is in the clear lead

I rest my case thinktank... remember the "orchestrated campaign" in promoting NCU? It is getting boring

Was there one? Was it students just promoting it or was it the school itself on here doing it? I've seen a lot of discussion on here about NCU and Touro.

I know NCU has been discussed quite a bit because they just started offering the DBA. Maybe when DETC announces the DBA schools, other than CSU, then we'll hear a lot from them, too.

I think NCU is just more a financial bargain and that plus a 100% online PhD. Thus, it would get a lot of airplay here. I just don't see a lot of people in regular faculty, or big consulting work, with NCU PhD's at this point. The actual utility of the doctorate there still seems unproven. I know I might be taking a chance but since it is RA I figure that it's not a huge gamble since I am not interested in being a professor.

I'm plugging away on my PhD dissertation in the field of Practical Theology at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. My hope is to graduate in September 2007.
