I was looking at the PhD at Aston University in the UK which can be completed via DL. Anyone know how financial aid works with a foreign school? Would it be possible to get U.S. student loans?
The only way to qualify for U.S. federal financial aid for a foreign school is to attend one that has applied, and been approved, for dispensing financial aid. These schools are listed on the USDoE's website. You might consider alternative, non-subsidized, forms of lending.
Interesting Program Do you have any information on how the degree (either the DBA or PhD) is handled for students in the USA?
The only thing I know is the informaton that is posted on the Aston University website. Apparently, the DBA coursework is divided into 5 modules of 30 hours each : The DBA Programme Structure Part-Time Study & Distance Learning Year 1 RMC Module 1 Introduction to Management Research RMC Module 2 The Philosophy of Management Research RMC Module 3 Qualitative Research Design & Analysis RMC Module 4 Quantitative Design & Analysis Year 2 RMC Module 5 Communicating Research Findings Qualifying report, literature review and research proposal - examined by written report and viva Years 3 to 6 Research leading to Thesis - 50,000 words Does anyone know what the utility of one of these degrees would really be in the U.S.? The traditional universities would most likely turn up their nose at this degree if they realized it was earned online. My husband is in the miiltary and we travel a lot, so they would probably just assume I earned the degree while abroad. However, if I were to be directly questioned, I'd have to tell the truth.
