Does anyone have information about RA schools that offer independent study (correspondence) or online courses that an individual can take without being a degree seeking student thier program?

I am looking for something that is asynchronous (self-paced), similar to what BYU, Indiana U, and LSU offer at the undergraduate level.

    Alabama University

In 1997, I took three criminal justice courses from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa). They offered a criminal justice certificate entirely on-line but they closed it since. At least, it is what they said to me in December 2004. You can still find the criminal justice certificate advertised on-line but it is no more available on-line. At the time, someone could take several different courses, other than criminal justice, without having to pursue a degree. They may still have a catalogue of courses offered, and I do not remember if any graduate courses were offered.

Almost any school will allow you to take a course or two with out being admitted. The Cal State system has something called Open University, where you can take any course offered.
