Hi, does anyone know- Where can I get a Masters in criminal justice? I am interested in a program that offers a mix of psychology classes with a focus in criminal justice. The college must be RA accredited and require no GRE scores.
I think Petersons.com list most of the major Distance Criminal Justice programs http://www.petersons.com/distancelearning/code/nameresults.asp?sponsor=1&FromPage=DetailSearch I was looking at programs at one time and it does seem most of them required the GRE. It looks like Central Missouri may not require the GRE.
Hmmm...This may help I'm kind looking for a program that offers a Masters in psychology with a specialization is forensic psychology or ciminology. But, if it has a Masters in criminal justice and specialization in psychology that would be fine. I really want to find a masters program that combines both my love for psychology and criminal justice.
avia93, Nova Southeastern University offers an online MS in CJ program with several different specializations, including a behavioral science track which is probably close to what you're looking for. The information on NSU's program can be found at www.cji.nova.edu. The admissions requirements state the GRE is optional, plus you can take 6 graduate credit hours of courses from another school and transfer them into the program if you want to. If you wanted to take additional courses in psychology to specialize in the field while still getting a CJ graduate degree this may be an option for you. Good luck! abnrgr275
Mountain State University offers a masters in the Administration of Criminal Justice with several concentrations (Correctional Counseling, Corrections Administration, Enforcement & Investigation, Security & Prevention, and Criminal Justice Education & Training). 8 classes required of which one is a project worth 10 credit hours. You can finish in about a year if you follow the progession in the graduate catalog. I'm getting ready to graduate with my B.S. degree in ADCJ in July and I thought about doing the my masters there also but I was accepted in another masters program at the one other school I applied to so I'm going there. They are really easy to work with and I never had any problems with them while taking my classes online. Hope that helps you out and good luck Badger http://mountainstate.edu
Forgot to mention the only GPA requirement is 2.0 and all you have to do is pay the $25.00 application fee and send your transcripts. No GRE required.
Thanks, I'll look into Mountain state. Also have anybody heard of Southern Christian University they offer Master of Arts (M.A.) in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Sam Houston State University Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas offers graduate level degrees in CJ. They seem to be the premier school for CJ.
I looked into Sam Houston State's graduate CJ program but unfortunately they don't offer it at a distance. abnrgr275
If you want a master’s degree in criminal justice, from a school that’s very well respected on an international level then Boston University will be your best choice.
Boston University itself is a great school, but it only offers a CJ degree through their CE division (Metropolitan College). There is no department or school of CJ, and no research is conducted. For prestige in the world or CJ, Florida State & Michigan State are tops as far as distance programs. Here is a fairly comprehensive list; Boston University Central Missouri State University Concordia University-Saint Paul East Carolina University Florida State University Fort Hays State University Indiana State University Michigan State University Mountain State University New Mexico State University Norwich University Nova Southeastern University Sam Houston State University Tiffin University Troy State University University of Alaska-Fairbanks University of California-Riverside University of Cincinnati University of Louisville University of Massachusetts-Lowell University of Wisconsin-Platteville
Here's two items that relate to the rankings of CJ degree programs in the U.S.: www.uc.edu/news/cjrank02.htm www.uc.edu/criminaljustice/UCPubs.pdf abnrgr275
Try Tiffin Tiffin University in Ohio, it is an online program....you can focus in criminal behavior which is based on psychology. No GRE scores or anything like that needed...the only thing is books are not included in tuition costs.
Sam Houston State University DOES offer 2-online MSCJ degrees: College of Criminal Justice College of Criminal Justice Also, Tarleton State University offers a MCJ online: Master of Criminal Justice - Tarleton State University
