    Civil war Exam

I scored very high on the exam by watching the Ken Burns PBS videos on the Civil War, about 6 (30-40 min videos) , the videos are one of the reccomended study materials and almost all of the test material is on them. They are always available on EBAY in VHS or DVD format and the good thing is you can resell on EBAY for what you gave for them because this series was an award winning film and remains a hot item.

    Re: Civil war Exam

Thank you very much for sharing this information. Do you have an ISBN # for these series?

It's been a while since I've visited this forum. After I've completed my Masters, the military and my business opportunities have been keeping me fairly occupied.

    Looking for study note.

I'm expecting the following DSST exams to show up at my local test center any day now:

    World Religion
    Money & Banking
    Drug & Alch. Abuse

Any study notes or cheat sheets out there?

I took Intro to world religions this morning. I was extremely under prepared for this one! The exam was 108 questions. I felt that a majority of the exam was about Buddhism. It will be a miracle if I pass this exam! The only prep I did for this exam was a half hearted skim of the Religion for Dummies Book from my local library. Hope I got lucky on this one, keep your fingers crossed for me!

Next, I will retake (The only DSST exam I failed) Drug & Alcohol Abuse. I hope to take this exam next week. I’ll report back!

    Drug and Alcohol Test

    Hey,
Long time since my last post. Admittedly, this test was "easy" for me...since I am a nurse.

I think if you download the study guide and Google the categories you should have plenty of free information to help you on your way.

    Kind regards,

Once again! I have no idea how I did it!?!?! I got my results back for Intro to World Religions. 48 is passing, got a 52. I must be an excellent test taker (I never did well in a classroom) or I'm just very, very, very lucky! 3 more credits in the till! Seriously folks, just start taking exams. You'll be surprised! I've never been any type of decent "Student". I've had such a good experience with DSST exams!

I'm going to try and schedule Drug & Alch. Abuse next week. I took this exam last year and failed (my only miss so far, knock on wood) by a point or 2. Any websites or notes out there that will get me thru this exam?

Took Introduction to World Religions today.

Not too difficult, however, I found out that
an hour of Wikipedia study the night before wouldn't cut it, especially when exactly one-half of the 105 question test covered Eastern Asian religions, which I never really knew much about in the first place.

The section on Islam, Judaism and Christianity should be pretty straightforward if you grew up in a moderately religious family, although a couple of questions ended up delving deep such as "what book of the Bible did event X occur?"

There also turned out be a lot of questions making a statement and asking to to pick I, II, III or a combination thereof. I hate those types of questions, they can be so confusing sometimes.

I honestly have doubts whether I will pass this exam due to me not being prepared for the half of the exam on Buddhism and Hinduism and the other East Asian religions. It requires you to have an understanding of the religions and to know the major theories and subdivisions.

Shouldn't be too tough if you prepare for it.

OK, on the 10th of July I will attempt to pass Drug & Alcohol Abuse and Money & Banking in the same day! I've never sat for more than one exam at a time. This should be interesting. Any tips on either one of these exams? Let the craming begin!

BTW: fiveninerzero, did you get your score for Intro to world relig. ?

I just got back from sitting for Drug & Alcohol and Money & Banking. M & B was 94 questions and Drug & Alcohol was 106.

    Allow me to brain dump;

I felt that most of the M & B exam was about the Federal Reserve. It also seemed to me that they asked a decent number of questions about Reserve requirements for Banks. I only remember their being a few 5 or 6 questions on Classical & Keynesian economics. I don’t think I had a single question on Intermediaries. I had one question about the NYSE, kinda random. Maybe 2-3 question on exchange rates. Only a few questions about FDIC.

This is definitely the most difficult exam I’ve taken yet! Just like all of the other exams I’ve sat for, I can’t imagine that did well on this exam. I’ll let you know in 2-4 weeks when I get my results.

Drug & Alcohol abuse Brain dump,

A lot of questions about Heroin, Meth, Coke & morphine. Only a few about Pot. 5-10 straight fwd questions about alcohol, wine, proof, blood alcohol content, etc. I checked out a college text book for this exam, “Drugs & Society” and did some skimming. Hopefully I passed it this time (This is the only exam I have failed to date).

    Hope this helps!

    Technical Writing

I am interested in taking the Technical Writing test, but I can not offer any experiences with DSST testing as this will be my first. But I have found a good web site that seems to have good outline and handle on technical writing, it is located here - Online Technical Writing
