  1. I have been doing some research into MBA programs and I have found an interesting relationship between Columbia Southern University, a DETC School and the University of North Alabama, an RA School.

    http://www.columbiasouthern.edu/

    http://www.columbiasouthern.edu/una/.

Their affiliation allows the best of both worlds. You can complete an MBA at Columbia Southern in 36 hours, at the rate of $172.00 per credit hour which is quite competitive. An MBA at the University of North Alabama can be completed in just 33 hours at the rate of $300.00 per credit hour, which is considerably lower in price than other RA programs. Both programs are online.

While Columbia Southern University has some a tuition payment plan, the University of North Alabama is eligible for Federal Student Aid Loans. Their code for FAFSA is 001016, http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

I spoke with a representative at Columbia Southern this afternoon and she explained that since the University of North Alabama is new to distance education, they are processing applicants for both schools. Both universities do not require a thesis.

Now Columbia Southern does not require the GMAT or GRE, but the University of North Alabama does, unless your GPA is above 3.5. They will however accept you provisionally with a GPA above 3.0, and if you complete the first 9 semester hours above a 3.0, you will be removed from provisional status.

I think UNA is a good school for anybody who want good education. I took couple of their classes before transferring to school in florida(less tuition).

    Hi PHD

I think you may want to use the search feature, and plug in Columbia Southern. I believe all of these points have been made before. Or, perhaps, I am being dense and you trying to make a point that escapes me. In any case, take care.

The CSU alliance with a RA school is an exciting development and one that should be replicated by other DETC schools.

Not only does it open up a settled academic pathway for further graduate studies, but helps to break down the 'barrier' between DETC and RA schools and the issue of 'acceptance' of DETC degrees with RA schools.

A great move by CSU. May others follow!

NCU will accept CSU undergraduate degrees for transfer.

What, if anything, does this say about how UNA feels about CSU? Is CSU simply doing marketing for UNA? Is CSU acknowledging a shortcoming by partnering with UNA?

    Wonder, as I wonder.....

    CSU/UNA Dual Enrollment Option:
Students wish to take advantage of CSU’s open enrollment system prior to enrolling with UNA, may take two courses with CSU. If the student earns a grade of “B” or better on each of the two CSU courses, they will then qualify for Conditional Admission to UNA based on their performance in the graduate courses. Students may at this point request to have these two courses (the limit) transferred into the UNA MBA program

    TomICAVols,

UNA doesn't need anyone to do their marketing I'm sure. Both schools are in Alabama and one has always been distance learning and the other is just getting into it. Why not form an alliance? Further, if UNA accepts CSU credits then I'd have to imagine that UNA "feels" pretty good about CSU.

Needing CSU to do marketing isn't the point. The alliance is a way for CSU to have more credibility, and for UNA to lure more students.

Can anyone comment on the general acceptability of the CSU degree in industry vs the UNA degree? I have an MS Ed from Cal State Hayward, and am interested in furthering my employability with a CSU MBA in project Management.

I know you can't teach with the CSU degree, but for general acceptability in business, is there alot of difference? Especially, since Northcentral University is accepting thier Masters level credits towards a PhD?
