Re: Is Instant Cert a SCAM?....NO I used Instacert.com for several of my exams. For most, they were excellent. For a few exams like Statistics, Business Finance, they were worthless. I found them to be a big help for exams like Business Law, Marketing, Management, Principles of Supervision, English Comp, etc. For the money, they are definitely worth it. Try and group your exams together so you can use the Instacert for more then one exam at a time.
I found them useless. I think it depends on which test you are taking and what your learning style is.
I've used Instacert for: Here's to Your Health Informations Systems & Computer Applications Principles of Marketing with scores of 69, 64, and 71 respectively. I'm sure I would have passed had I taken the tests cold, but I wouldn't have scored quite as high. Remember, you have to consider age and experience. For someone my age or someone who's been in the workplace a while, Instacert may not contain anything much you don't already know. But remember (as has been pointed out several times in these forums), these exams were designed so that your average kid coming out of an introductory college course could pass. Having said all that, I'm using Instacert again. It's quick & easy. I'm using it to sit five other CLEP & DSSTs in February.
I agree if it is material you already know instant cert is likely to improve your score a llittle. If it is information you have little or no knowledge of it will not help in the least. So it is important to know which test you are going for. My vote, avoid it as a waste of money.
Sisterc, I was wondering did you only use instantcert to study for Info systems and computer applications? It seems to be full of information but its just not structured. I'm just trying to see how much I need to study for this exam...I took a pratice test on Peterson's but I made an 44. This would help alot....thanks!
ttousant, Yes, I used Instacert exclusively for the Informations Systems exam. I'm probably your typical computer user--just enough knowledge to do what I need to do. I do agree with you about it not being very structured. I went through it, ignored what I knew, and took notes on what I didn't. Good luck!
I have been using instantcert for 6 months now, I have completed over 60 credits all A's (DSST) and 2 B's. I have always supplemented instantcert with a another book "Cracking the Clep" or REA or COMEX. I check various sites to see other experiences on which source worked for what exam. The good thing about instantcert is I can use it at work and it looks like I am working real hard ) I cant do that with a book. but I have found for $19 a month it's great.
