My call to Preston University

actually I am married to a Finn, I have a suana in the house which I use quite regularly and I travel to Finland at least once a year.

I happen to think our government was wrong in its decision not to support the US and am a rather staunch supporter of your current foriegn policies (softwood lumber and beef imports are not my favourites but there is some justification on the US side).

That being said racisim is still racisim and I have always spit in its eye when I see it. It may have been intended as a joke but it was still racist.

Your stereo type of Canadians is as misquided as your defence of your position.

 

Bad man that I am, where is the "racisism"? Mentioning that Preston is HQ in Islamabad? Making a sauna joke? Ralph disnguishing unidentified voices by noting an accent? Bridling at Canadian condescension? Disliking being called "bad character"? Holding you in contempt for calling Dr Bear "bad character"? Where, pray tell, is the "racisism"?

Further, being myself of triracial background, against which part of myself am I "racisist"? European? African? North Asian (like the Finns)? Or am I anti-Arab (when Lebanon* gave my family refuge until the PLO put an erm sudden end to it and them)? The charge of "racisism" is a nice substitute for thought in some contexts, but as a former DEFENDER of PrestonPak, I fail to see that it works too well here (apart from it being another defamatory lie, to which we old regulars are well-used from shills).



*Oh yeah. Christian Arabs don't count, I guess.

I am not an expert in world Religion. but you got the point. if not you need a cold bath (certainly needed with that rising temperature). This stupid thread is wasting my bandwidth.

 

The whole intention was to convey information by showing up a phone conversation to the so called "Preston University". That's it.

Those that managed to perceive the essence, shared the fun with the rest. Those also understood that the funny side was only the means that carries the central concept.

Going back to the original post regarding the reason why Preston University charges different fees from its different campuses (and forgetting all the irrelevant and racist nonsense inbetween!), this is not unusual.

Anyone familar with the twinning and foreign campus programs of accredited Western universities will know that the fees for doing a degree at the off shore campus is different to those of the home campus.

Big deal! The reason is that the home university has 'no control' over what the twinning campus charges in the overseas country, so long as the foreign campus pays the required affiliation fee.

Take it easy. I'm also canadian and did not find any racist comments involved. Preston is in Pakistan but pretend to be an american University. They sell the WY license that anyone can get for few thousands in assets and a P.O. Box in the WY state. Dr. Bear made his comment because you call a telephone in WY and they answer in Pakistan, they are profiting from this license all over the world and it is just fun to see how this people manage to fool the world about their "american" status.

So Ralph, you originally rang Preston with the intention of enrolling in one of their Bachelor's degree, and hopefully, on the cheap, through their Finland campus.

Now don't try and tell us you rang with the intention of exposing their 'middle-east' - Pakistan-connection.

Have you enrolled yet, or have you chosen another unaccredited school?

 

on a more serious level, i read & heard of more reports about Pakistan ( along with Indonesia & Malaysia ) being publicly associated with degree mills of varying breed & credentials.
That may be ( as with Nigeria & Liberia ) some " latin american fortnight passport" kind of connection.
You buy a few "empty" passports from some low key provincial personnel & sell them for 10.000X.
It all goes smoothly until your contact gets busted and/or the unstable local regime undergoes some "major change", and that's when it's grill time for the buyers.
These countries are monocratic and/or dictatorial regimes.
There is not a clearly defined paper trail to follow.
As the latests development in Liberia shows, it all depends on loothing.
Accreditation by such sources is irrelevant, not to mention a time bomb.
What about Liberia?
Yesterday's outfits are now being blacklisted ( hence their degrees are toilet paper ).
I assume a new breed of outfits may prosper under the benign rule of regime X, only to fall once regime Y comes.
