I think the Angels or the Astros. They seem to be the hot teams going in.

St Louis has been by far the best team all year long, but it's a bad time for them to be slumping.

I wish I could say the Dodgers, but their pitching is, well, bad.

I would say the Red Sox, BUT as always, they will look like their going to win it all and then, just brake your heart! :(

However, if they do get the good pitching beyond Schilling in the Red Sox rotation, they will be the team to beat in the American League.

If not, as we always say here in Boston, "wait til next year!"

I would go with the Cardinals because of their strong show throughout the season. I also favour the Red Sox but they seem to falter during playoffs.

Damn! Both the A's and Giants choked this year! I was hoping to see Barry in the playoffs. Oh well, there is always next year.

It will be great to see BB break the homerun record next year (my prediction). At an average of 36 HR per season (compared to Aaron's 33 and Babe's 34.5) I think he has a good chance of reaching 800 before the end of his career.

My money's on the 1975 Cincinnati Reds, but I've always been a sucker for a sure thing.

Babe Ruth's per year totals are skewed because of his years pitching and because of the dead-ball era in which he started his career. Check his at-bats-per-homer.

Can anyone consider the exploits of Barry Bonds without thinking about performance-enhancers? I just can't get past it. But steroids don't explain everything. The near-elimination of day games and double-headers, smaller new ballparks, the 5-man pitching rotation (creating starters out of scrubs), hard baseballs, and corked bats (see Sammy Sosa) have all contributed, along with better fitness, nutrition, and weight programs. But if you really want to see home run totals brought back to normal, you have to do only one thing....

....allow pitchers to pitch inside again. All this posing and warning whenever a pitcher comes inside has virtually eliminated the inside of the plate, allowing hitters to crowd the plate and take the outside away from the pitcher. Also, the advent of aluminum bats has caused pitchers to grow up afraid of pitching inside, where a pitch on the hands can still result in a homer. That further pushes pitchers out over the plate where....wham!

I am a major Atlanta Braves fan, but my second favorite team is the Houston Astros. For the fourth time, I believe, they are playing each other again. I think strangely enough I am pulling for the Astros. They seem to be a team of destiny. It was wild yesterday when both Minute Maid Park and Reliant Stadium were sold out yesterday. It will be an interesting MLB playoff.

At least it is if you live in the northeast. It don't look so good to my A's.

I've gotta say that my heart's with the Red Sox. They have gotta win a World Series sometime. Besides, I have gotta cheer against the damn Yankees, the team that thinks they own the World Series because they are New Yorkers and the media's darlings... the best team that money can buy.

In the NL, I kinda like the Cardinals. I have friends in St. Louis area and I know how passionate they are about their team. Besides, Tony LaRussa is an old A.

So... Red Sox vs. Cardinals, that's what I wanna see. The crowd at the games would be a sea of red, that's for sure.

    It's the R-E-D S-O-X ! Not the Redson !
Experimenter bias! It'll be the Sox over the Cardinals in the Series !
(oh, btw, itll be the Pats as the Superbowl camps again too)

I am a Cubs fan, so I am not really rooting for any particular team that is still in it, but I was so hoping that the BoSox would beat the Yankees. It looks like the Yankees just have their number, or the curse must be for real.

Funny Jack, you criticize someone for spelling Red Sox wrong then tell that the Pat's will be superbowl camps again. Don't you hate it when that happens. :D

Bosox hanging on or the Yankees just dragging it out? It almost seems like the Yankees could have won this at any time, but are just dragging it out. I would love to see history made here, and see the Bosox come back, but I doubt it.

I sure hope the cardinals can win NLCS because it would suck to see either the Yankees or Roger Clemens win another world series.

Too bad you didn't include the choice of: [ ] Redsox with four amazing come-from-behind victories. (Well even two ain't bad.)

I would really enjoy seeing the Red Sox complete the comeback and win the World Series!

It looks like I might have to settle for the Astros or Cardinals, though (even though I'm a Yankees fan). Looks like those two teams might be very tough for NY or BOS.

I'm not sure if they will do it, but can you amagine what it would be like being in the Yankees locker room if they loose this series to the Red Sox?

Yankees owner George Steinbrener would explode!:D

I would love to see that, next years Yankee payroll may hit over 300 million!
