I am in the the unfortunate predicament of having to take the ACT test before applying the nursing program at my local community college. I thought I had taken SATs in high school, but I have been unable to locate my scores to date. So, at 30-something and with an assoc degree already under my belt, I have to take the ACT test in order to apply to this program. I feel fairly confident in the English/Reading/Social science sections, but after looking at some practice math questions, this is definitely my weakness. Can anyone suggest a good refresher site in pre-algebra or any other suggestions on how to not totally bomb on this? Thanks, Kim
Old records Hi, If you went to a CC or a 4 year initially it is a pretty good bet they may have a record of your scores. I would also check with your old high school. I am not sure what happens to high school records but I don't think they are disposed of. Hille
Hille thanks for the response. I actually did check with my high school a few months back, but only had some STS, standardized scores, on file. No SATs. I even paid for a search through the SAT central file system which came up empty..so I must have NOT taken them, lol. Like I said, it has been a number of years since high school! If anyone can direct me to any pre-algebra, etc refresher sites or ACT prep sites, it would be MOST appreciated. Kim
Kimbr3ks, You can take practice test at Petersons http://www.petersons.com/airforce/testprep.asp?sponsor=8 for FREE EXAM. Register and email me at [email protected] for the activation code. You can use www.sparknotes.com for refresh your Math. Good Luck Semper Fi
Tekman, Thanks so much for the Petersons practice test link. I sent you a private e-mail for the activation code. Quite by accident I had found the spark notes site a few days ago. I think this will be a huge help as I feel that a brush up in pre-algebra/algebra is in order! It has been a l-o-n-g time since doing any, lol. I am taking the ACT Oct 2nd, so I have plenty of time to prepare. Kim
This may help with some areas that you may be having trouble with. It is free. Just click on the VoD icon and it will ask for some information. Then you can watch the video. http://www.learner.org/resources/series66.html Good Luck
