Okay, I'll bite. What are some of the notable inaccuracies in the ODA list?

Yes, several have doctorates from accredited instituions, others have doctorates from unaccredited institutions. I am one of the former.

That's "institutions" not "instituions" (I wish that this forum software had a spell checker)

Although I certainly do not approve of the actions of the ODA nor, as a Oregon resident and taxpayer, appreciate any Oregon tax dollars being used to fund this concept I do agree with this definition of a degree mill. It is not the definition used here by many individuals on this site who tend to use the term for any unaccredited school but, in my opinion, it is a reasonable definition.

    LOL,

Does ANYONE here consider all unacredited schools degree mills. NO. Just another strawman by lonely ol' "russ". LOL. Well he is good for a few laughs anyway.

...and my bulldog has a Ph.D. from a school that is NOT on the ODA 'Bad Guy' list.:D (He's also an ordained minister)

    Hi Dave,

You are wrong (even if you are a fellow Oregonian). How many people here consider KWU to be a "diploma mill?" Just about everyone (other than myself). The ODA's definition does not fit Kennedy Western University since they are just an unaccredited university, not a diploma mill. In fact, as you know, the ODA had to refrain from calling KWU a diploma mill based on a lawsuit filed by KWU against ODA. In addition, the ODA was required to have defamation training on top of that.

Therefore, it is quite clear that people on this site refer to unaccredited schools as diploma mills even if they do not meet the ODA definition.

    Ah Russ

There you go again. From the definition YOU accept as accurate, "(c) Issues degrees using more than 50 percent of required credits based on the student's life experience or portfolio." KWU only requires 5 classes instead of the normal 40 classes for a BA/BS. Even those five are questionable when compared to real university level classes. So, by your own standards, KWU is in fact a degree mill. The only reason the ODA settled was because of old Hardly Matters, I mean Hardy Meyers. The guy most in the state thinks is a bit of a joke.

    Sorry Dave,

I cannot verify that you only need five classes to graduate from KWU. If you can refer me to a site that indicates that, I would be happy to take a look. Thanks.

The diploma mill known as Kennedy-Western University doesn't publish requirements for their bogus degrees. Reasonable people would consider this another strong indicator that KWU is a diploma mill.

The 5 classes is the most common figure given by victims that have been ripped off by KWU. There have been reports that range between 4 and 7 but most victims seem to need to take 5 classes.

Yep that is the thing about frauds like KWU. They are very slippery and slimy. Tell you what "Russ", find me one, repeat ONE, real KWU graduate who has put in 40 classes or something close and I will retract all the things said about the fraud known as KWU.
