    Nicely illustrated, Mark.

However was this - "INERMEDIAYTE GRAMMAR" - intentional or not? I have actually had to have spellings on my 'script corrected, or the original 'scripts reviewed for missed courses.

Therefore it pays to read exactly how you're coming across through these suckers.

Well spotted, Orson. That was my typo for "INTERMEDIATE". Excelsior did initially record British Columbia Open University as "BRITISH OPEN UNIVERSITY" on Rosie's Student Status Report, but corrected it as soon as she pointed it out.

    Took the test!

I just took the NYU proficiency test for foreign languages and I have to say that it was very easy!! Everyone who took the test came out feeling very confident. I took the 16 point test which lasts 3 hours but finished in about 2 hours and change.

I advise anyone who knows a World language to jump all over this exam. Though it was a piece of cake I must add that if you are not fluent in the target language it would not be possible to pass this one.

The proctor said that it will take 6 to 8 weeks for the results to be sent out so my question to anyone who has taken the exam or has knowledge of it is does it actually take that long??

  6. Is there a list of institutions that accept the exam for credit? CLEP site has a list.

    The score

Well after 2 months of waiting, and waiting. I finally received my results from NYU and I am happy to announce I received 16 out of 16 points! So it was all well worth the wait!

    BYU

I took the BYU language test about 2 and a half weeks ago and received the results today. 12 more credits! I would advise a person to take this exam over the NYU one for three reasons:

    1. Cheaper. This tests costs $40 dollars as opposed to $245 for the 12 credit NYU exam.

    2. Easier. The BYU test is all multiple choice while NYU has a essay and translation of different texts to and from the target language.

    3. Faster results. I waited close to 2 months for the results from NYU while BYU returned them in about 2 weeks and some change.

Anyway its been a good week with 28 credits to the pot!

Do you only get credits (at Excelsior) if you ace the exams, or can you get part of the credits of you don't do fantastically? I ask because I speak Italian fluently, but imperfectly.

The exam is actually graded by NYU and if you do not score 16 out of 16 they will award partial credit depending on how well you do.
