I've decided to attend Colorado Technical University for a MSM-Information Systems Security http://www.ctuonline.edu. My class doesn't start until Febuary timeframe. My question is does anyone out there know of any other security masters programs that are 100% DL? I've found a few but but Im continuing to look for more to ensure I haven't overlooked anything.

There is one that is offered by University of London, UK. Another one that I came across was MS in Network Security from Capitol College. Not sure if this is offered online.

BTW, good luck with your studies. How much would this cost you and how long would it take ?

I've seen the UOL offering and, as much as I love it, it is way too expensive. This area happens to be my professional specialty, and I've been trying to convince myself since the program's inception to register.

    ALB, Harvard University (In Progress)
JD, Concord School of Law (In Progress)
Many, many CLEP, DANTES, and ECE Tests

P.S.- Oh, wow, my first visit and post in almost a year. Sorry; law school can mess you up. I claim the Bee Gees defense.

At one time last year I completed the forms to matriculate into the UOL program. Before actually mailing them in, I noticed the "price premium" of this UOL degree over other UOL degrees.

As information security is my professional career, I've seen many current examples of price gouging on information security certifications and degrees, as security is the "hot ticket" in IT right now.

Without accusing anyone of anything, I simply suggest that this UOL program, in comparison with other UOL programs, is too expensive.

When I saw Capital College I called them immediately but because I'm in Japan I couldn't make a certain scheduled meeting with the class regularly so I had to pass on that. I loved their program it looked exciting.

The price for CTU is 22k and as you progress you'll accumulate Grad cerificicate in various topics. The timeframe is 15-18 months to complete the program, they are owned by AIU's parent company Career Education Corporation. http://www.careered.com

The GI Bill went to $975.00 a month now so that helps alot :)

    Re: Re: Information Security Masters

When I collected GI Bill (which I did for about one year) it was a little over 400 clams... this was about 8 years ago when I was a newb in a.e.d. If only EE savings bonds would double in that amount of time :)

BTW, has anyone collected GI Bill while enrolled in a UoL program? Or any non-US programs for that matter. The VA site doesn't list approved programs; they just tell you to contact the institution to either see if they're approved or to get the approval process going ...

    You're kidding right?

Although there is serious money being thrown at CIS security - even at the community college level.

I'm sure that anything I say will be misunderstood, but...

    1. Norwich is NOT the US Military.

    2. The US Military is not noted for the excellence of it's education programs - they "check the block" and that's about it.

    Why would I misunderstand?

Norwich is a millitary school just go to the first page they also are a official site to provide information about homeland security

Welcome to Norwich University’s web site for Homeland Security. We would like everyone on campus to know that the University is monitoring our homeland security threat level issued by our federal government. We have and will continue to monitor the day-to-day events.

There are plans in place to alert everyone in the event of an emergency by voice and e-mail messaging. Please check your CliC notices regularly for any updated and pertinent information.

We hope that this web site will address most of your informational requirements. The safety of our students, faculty and administration is of the most importance to NU. If you should need additional information or assistance please contact us. Thank you.

    Introducing Norwich University
    Military School and Traditional College
Norwich University is the oldest private military college in the United States. Students who enroll in the Corps of Cadets follow a disciplined military regimen, while civilian students lead a more traditional collegiate lifestyle. Both groups reside on the Northfield campus, attending classes and participating together in sports and other activities.

    Leadership Training
In keeping with its mission, the University provides opportunities for all students to develop leadership skills and a strong commitment to community service.

    Accreditation
    Norwich University is accredited by:
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges

    http://www.norwich.edu/corps/
This page tells about there relationship with cadets

Military schools and colleges have a long and proud tradition in American history and were not designed solely for students planning military careers. Norwich University was the first military college established in America and in 1819, began educating leaders for both the military and civilian communities. Our founder understood that a structured military lifestyle combined with civilian academics would not only benefit those interested in acquiring skills valued in both military and civilian leaders…but also benefit a nation in its infancy. His vision resulted in the establishment of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC).

Military schools and colleges like Norwich University prepare students to become extraordinarily competent and responsible citizens. Military training, although important, is not the sole objective at Norwich. Our objective is to provide an environment of growth within which students learn how to become stronger and more determined leaders. Those who rise to the mental and physical challenges of life at a military college as a Cadet are rewarded with useful life skills, self-confidence and self-discipline.

Theory can take a student only so far; some lessons require real life experience. The demands of life at military schools and colleges similar to Norwich University force Cadets to confront daily issues, which both challenge and define their characters as future leaders. The lifestyle of a Cadet leaves no room for apathy. Cadets learn to take responsibility for their actions, to support comrades in pursuit of a common goal, to step up, take charge and lead from the front.

Graduates of Norwich University and other military schools and colleges make a difference in the world as leaders of our communities, businesses, government and military. They understand the values of initiative, integrity, honor and loyalty. They understand that a job well done is its own reward. Why? As Cadets, they gained the practical experience, knowledge and strength of character to try, no matter what obstacles they face in life.

    Re: Why would I misunderstand?

    Codekiller,

I say again - Norwich is NOT the US Military - and they do not claim to be. They are a private military school - like many others.

As for their information assurance program - if you are thinking of enrolling - I'd suggest you ask about the instructor credentials:

    a. education
    b. vendor certification
    c. experience

Best wishes on your future efforts. :)
