Hi. I'm new to this site and am hoping someone can help me. I need to CLEP out of humanities and my advisor at UoP said to take the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. Has anyone taken this test before? I got a book by REA on it, but it's not really helping. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I'm scheduled to take this test Jan. 15. I bought a study guide off ebay from a young lady who is selling guides to some clep tests that she has written (I've bought 4 of her guides, just search under "clep") . I liked her book and went all the way through it. Then I took a mock test using the College Board Official Clep book. I scored a raw 78% so I think I'm good to go. The only way I see to study for this is to do some reading in Literature (with a capital L) and get used to it. That's what her guide does. If you read well you should be fine.

    Jeanine,

I used the REA book for the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP and scored well. It does not give you all the info you need to pass the test but it will help you to start to thing along the lines you need to pass the test. Also, read anything else you can to supplement.

    Good luck.

If you're well-read, that exam will be a piece of cake. I took it with no preparation whatsoever (other than a lifetime of reading), and scored in the 90% range.

    Test

I took that test and scored a 92 or in the 92nd percentile or something like that. Anyway I smoked that test, but I am a very good reader.

If you have a good vocabulary and enjoy reading I think this test will be easy for you.

Even if your not well read (other than magazines, dicussion boards, and stuff at work I hardly ever read) the Analyzing and Intrepeting Literature is very passable (I was going to say easy but my score doesn't necessarily reflect its lack of difficulty..). I scored a 57 or something close to that (I brushed up for 15 minutes on literary terms). Not too bad for a dummy! :D

Thanks! I feel better knowing that a lot of you thought the test was passable. Have any of you taken the college math CLEP?

I'm taking the test tomorrow and I wasn't aware of an essay component. If you have the option, why write and have to wait for a grade on it unless your college requires it? Otherwise, take the test without essay and you'll have an instant grade and 6 credits. Anyway, if my test has an essay I'll post tomorrow and let you know.

There are a few schools I have applied to that either did not take the Analyzing and Intrepeting Lit. CLEP or required the essay with it.

My college board prep book states that if an essay is required, it will be graded by the institution that is requiring it so maybe you need to check with your college. I just took the test without essay and passed.
