So putting the video aside, what do you all think about this whole blue checkmark thing? A lot of celebrity simps go on Twitter. So the blue checkmark thing might make the celebrities unhappy though they don't tend to tweet much anyway. Then you have the whole imposter issue if everyone goes blue, as people can sign up for blue and then start trolling the blue checkmarks. White checkmarks, gray checkmarks, different tiers. I'm a bit confused about what is going on. Lol. https://www.vox.com/recode/2022/11/4/23438917/twitter-verifications-blue-check-elon-musk
So confused about him and Twitter. Seems that it is no longer about the company but now it’s Elon Musk’s Twitter? His way or the highway?
The fact people are paying for these checkmarks is hilarious to me. People with like 8 followers, smh. So vain...
Pre-warning, this is a rant. Is it just me or does Elon strike anyone else as a boy in a suit? He reminds me of an annoying kid that was in one of my middle school science classes that thought they always knew the answer. The person was usually correct, but occasionally lacked some common sense that resulted in being wrong... and then did not handle well being told so by the teacher. Maybe it is Elon's lack of real life struggle that would typically lead to a sense of resiliency, humbleness, and caring more about the struggles of other people. His younger brother, Kimbal, is worlds ahead of Elon on maturity and manliness . I do not care how much money Elon has... he gives off vibes of still being a child. I'm going to resist saying my very last thought on that because I don't want to make anybody else feel worse than I'm sure they probably already do or will. I don't really care if he decides to start charging for a blue check mark or not. Anyone who would have a blue mark is very likely to also have a website. It's just as easy to forgo the blue mark and link to their legitimate Twitter account from their website... which I don't think Elon is taking into account. They $8 a month charge isn't going to really break anyone's bank account, but that blue mark is not really providing a whole lot of value either so I am not sure how many people will really pay for it.
I know that once it became available a ton of people started popping up with it, particularly people with almost no followers or very small amounts. Lots of people want to be seen as important, and to them that checkmark means something. What they don't realize is that without the following behind them, it's meaningless.
Exactly, a person needs to provide some qualifier(s) that make others want to follow, and the blue checkmark alone does not do that.
