Steve, how much traction would I get posting some of the more bizarre and lame leftist stuff pertaining to Biden over the last two years? This sort of thing is low-hanging fruit.

You'd be right. Biden is totally overrated by his supporters, especially given how he was a compromise candidate chosen primarily for appearing electable. And this sort of thing is just as silly:

Your example has its roots in hate for Biden, not support. This is a reaction to that hate.

You know, Brandon grew on me quite a bit. Do you think any other Democratic candidate would have achieved more? Except HRC, of course.

On topic: Trump running (and becoming a nominee) might be a blessing in disguise. There are several potential Republicans (including DeathSantis) who are way harder for Biden to beat in 2024 - simply by not being visibly insane. Trump, OTOH, lost to Biden once (or more, if we count all the proxy losing he did in midterms) and there are no reasons he can't do it again. By all means, let the Crooks and Thieves Party nominate a proven loser.

That it's a clever appropriation of rightwing attempts to make fun of him doesn't mean it hasn't become just as silly. Pepe the frog didn't start out being an alt-right symbol either.

Yes, I agree that the incredibly successful, highly articulate, politically consistent, Harvard/Yale-educated two-term governor of Florida would be quite hard for the current president to beat. Especially given the fact that Biden's age has caught up with him.

Yes 'liegeman' was my choice of a word as to I feel regarding President Trump but, that does not give you license to define it as volunteer slave/Cool aid Drinker.

As to Reagan and the illegals, There was a deal. The Left reneged.

You forgot "cruel" and "Fascist-curious", but yeah.
I don't know what "age has caught up" supposed to mean. Biden is in great shape. But age would be a campaign issue - against DarthSantis, but not Trump. So, a secondary point. Run Donny run!

Yeah, I'm sure he's a fascist and a constitutional strict constructionist-- that makes so much sense. Do you just use"fascist" to discredit anyone you don't agree with? Sure, DeSantis is a Navy vet, current reservist, and governor who has sworn his allegiance to our constitution, but why not call him a fascist for rhetorical effect, even if it is irresponsible and transparent?

You know, there are a great many things he could possibly do that would disappoint me. Should he continue to have Ye West choose dinner guests for Mar a Lago, for instance, could be problamatic for me. <3

One of his favorite things to say in the 2016 campaign, "Only I can fix it!"

    The description says,
“I’m special. I have access to supernatural powers. You’re not special. So, you don’t.”

"Only I can fix it!" Fits it pretty well. Plus that seems to be his general attitude, that he has special powers, which is why in part he embraces QAnon.

Trump does a lot of things exceptionally well.

    For example:
    1. NOBODY builds walls better than Trump.
    2. NOBODY loves the bible more than Trump.
    3. NOBODY respects women more than Trump.

    4. NOBODY is less racist than Trump.

Of course all according to Trump.

    5. NOBODY in the history of America has EVER known so much about infrastructure as Trump.

    That is a fact!

    (According to Donald Trump)

    Your phrase, not mine.

Did you bother listen to what Reagan said? He was conciliatory and compassionate. He sounded like someone who had actually paid attention to the words of Jesus Christ. Compare them with Trump's infamous loathsome tirade:

"When Mexico sends it people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

Calling someone who is not a judge a "strict constructionist" is just conservative for "I like him". Also, I can't believe people say "X can't be a Fascist, he's a veteran" with a straight face; both Hitler and Mussolini served in the military. So did Lee Harvey Oswald, a Marine - if you want a Commie hued example.

Again, here is the 14 characteristics of a cultural "Ur-Fascism", according to Dr. Umberto Eco:

    1. "The cult of tradition"
    2. "The rejection of modernism"
    3. "The cult of action for action's sake"
    4. "Disagreement is treason"
    5. "Fear of difference"
    6. "Appeal to a frustrated middle class"
    7. "Obsession with a plot" and the hyping-up of an enemy threat.
    8. Enemies are "at the same time too strong and too weak"
    9. "Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy" because "life is permanent warfare"
    10. "Contempt for the weak"
    11. "Everybody is educated to become a hero",
    12. "Machismo"
    13. "Selective populism"
    14. "Newspeak"

Lionizing military veterans does not make one a fascist, or ever fascist-curious - but it is VERY compatible with being one. Especially seeing how most actual Fascist movements presented as hyper-nationalist.

I don't think there's anything wrong with allowing immigrants to work jobs and receive social security and medicare benefits, considering they are paying into the system like the rest of us.

If they work for a period of time, such as 5-10yrs, then they could get permanent residency.

That seems like a reasonable compromise and a way to get these people out of the shadows.

Totally for it. Too bad this exact thing is called "amnesty" in GOPnik argot and they will never agree to it. Even formerly "moderate " among them.

No tricks. Trumpism is, literally, a fascist movement, minus fancy manifestos (so called New Right tries to supply some of these). DeSantis is ideologically flexible, so fasc-ish as long as and to the extent that will give him power.
