ASU online doesn't state on the degree or transcript that you attended the college online. Furthermore, their programs are meant to be exactly the same as their butt-in-seat on-campus students. This is a top 150 college, and its engineering department is highly respected.

ASU takes around 60 transfer credits from CLEP/DSST or CC transfer credits.

There are also cheap $25 ASU universal learner courses that anyone can take.

$425. $25 to start the course, plus $400 if you actually want credit.

I'm not sure how one would decide such a study, but it would be interesting to see the results of it. Same with how many people who graduate from UMGC just put "University of Maryland".

In some ways, it takes degree hacking to a totally different level. I mean, most schools don't usually allow you to simply not pay and have it not show up on your transcript if you don't like the grade you got...

I know someone who graduated from Kaplan U. They list it on LinkedIn as Purdue University. Haha!

They went on to get their master's at George Washington. Now, they are pursuing a Psy.D. at William James College.

I am wondering if you could graduate from Old Dominion University and list as College of Williams and Mary. Or you graduate from George Mason University and list as University of Virginia. :D

Those are different scenarios. Unless you're saying the College of William and Mary was formerly ODU and the same for GMU and UVA.

Old Dominion University started out as the College of William and Mary satellite campus in Norfolk, Virginia (Reference: https://www.odu.edu/about/facts-and-figures).
Also, GMU started out as the University of Virginia's satellite campus in Fairfax, Virginia (Reference: https://silverbox.gmu.edu/masonhistory/items/show/18).

I just realized that Global Campus is an inferior degree from a prestigious brand. This is similar to Harvard University's Extension School, Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies, or the University of Pennsylvania: College of Liberal and Professional Studies.

I was rather shocked when, a few weeks ago, I was meeting with a colleague who was frothing at the mouth at how an employee "lied" about having a degree from Harvard when he actually had a degree from HES. A third colleague, a Harvard alumnus, was utterly stunned by how aggressive colleague number 1 was being and reminded him that HES grads ARE Harvard alumni and that HES degrees ARE Harvard degrees. He wouldn't hear any of it. He insisted that the only acceptable way to list it would be "Harvard Extension School of Harvard University" not just "Harvard University" or, really, any other variation. He fired said employee for misrepresentation during the application process.

I heard once, earlier in my career, another similar instance around an employer who was irate that an employee erroneously stated he had graduated from Penn State Main Campus (Penn State itself, by the way, does not use this terminology anymore). As it happened, while the employee did study there for a time, he finished his coursework at one of the other campuses (probably Hazleton). Again, irrationally irate employer ensued.

So...it can happen. Is it likely? Not really. Is it possible? Of course. Just like it's possible that a Yale alumnus will refuse to hire someone with a degree from Harvard. Or that you'll get fired because you have a degree from FSU and a few days ago FSU trounced UF. There are some stupidly irrational people in the world and sometimes they get their hands on power.

That said, I think as long as you don't misrepresent your credentials you're fine. Purdue Global is not "Purdue" proper. However, neither is IUPUI and that is a perfectly fine school. Just like that, however, you could not go to IUPUI and say "I went to Purdue" or "I graduated from Indiana University." Represent your credentials well and while you cannot be assured that it will keep the crazies at bay it is your best defense.

There is nothing barring a DEAC accredited school from an articulation agreement with an RA school. There are other examples of this. While I wouldn't be shocked if the credit transfer were not absolute there is nothing to suggest that the credits are non-transferable. If articulation agreements can happen between two unrelated RA/NA schools then there can certainly be credit transfer between an RA/NA school where the former owns the latter.

Besides, I have found that many state schools tend to view NA credits more favorably even if it isn't their stated policy.

I received my Masters degree from Ball State University while stationed on a a military base in Spain. I've never been to the Ball state Campus in Muncie Indiana.
Nowhere on the transcript or diploma does it mention the courses were all done (in person) in Spain.

Because your degree was awarded from one institution, these universities treat Global Campus is a separate institution within the university system. I did the same thing that you did; I earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Troy University's eCampus. I had never been to Alabama or any of Troy's satellite campuses. My degree and transcript never mention any other place other than Troy, Alabama, main campus.

“The course work is taken at an institution of higher education which has been accredited by a regional accrediting agency.”https://registrar.uark.edu/transfer-and-test-credit/index.php

If a student has the intention of transferring into the University of Arkansas from University of Arkansas Grantham, a DEAC accredited school, I suggest calling the Registrar to see if these credits are transferable. The Registrar clearly states the credits must be RA and I don’t see an articulation policy. I do see a petition process.

I seem to recall some schools holding dual (RA, DEAC) accreditation in the past.

I use the US Department of Education website to differentiate between schools. https://ope.ed.gov/dapip/#/institution-profile/121150

Harvard Medical School and Harvard University have the same 121150 code as recognized by the US Department of Education. Other schools, although slight variations in the school name by adding “Global Campus” or “E Campus,” may actually have a distinct USDE school code indicating an entity separate from the affiliate institution. In the eyes of the US Department of Education, these are technically separate institutions. That is why I reference the USDE website.
In the case of Harvard extension, I haven’t found any separation and would therefore conclude the program is indeed part of Harvard. If the employee was awarded a degree from Harvard albiet the extension school, it is a Harvard degree. I believe your colleague may have made a wrongful termination

To me this is unnecessarily complicated and inaccurate. Better simply to see whether they are under the same institutional accreditation or not.

The USDE website details the accreditations. It’s an excellent resource!
