Sharon Stone went to my Alma Mater but she dropped out. One of my professors used to mention her from time to time. According to him, she didn’t get good grades.

Bruce Baumgartner also works there. I think he still does.

I looked and looked -- and was unable to find anything saying that Mr. Rodman actually graduated from this (or any) University. Josh, do you know if he did - and if so, what field his degree was in? Just curious. :)

Yes - It says he attended -- two schools, in fact. Nothing about graduation. This bio DOES say "As a junior and a senior, Rodman..."
I'd expect it say somewhere that he graduated. No source I can find says, either way. I know he made himself available for the NBA draft in 1986, which was his senior year.

I'm hoping to find somewhere, some source that says he earned a degree - and in what field. So far no luck. Maybe he just has a degree in being "Bad As He Wants To Be" or, according to ex-wife Anicka's book. "Worse Than He Says He Is." (1997) https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13188.Worse_Than_He_Says_He_is

Or, perhaps he finished school later, in Pyongyang with his friend, Kim Jong-Loon... :D

That said, though, in the interest of adding something positive, another NBA star who parlayed his success into celebrity status is Dr. Shaquille O'Neal. Most of us know he earned an EdD through Barry University. Before that, though, he dropped out of LSU to play in the NBA, and after a few seasons kept his promise to his mom to go back and finish his degree, even joking at graduation, "Now I can go and get a real job."

I just assumed since it said where they went to college meant attend and not graduate. I am not sure if he earned a degree or not but I know he spent 3 years at SOSU. Whether he is an alum or not, I do not know.

Yep - LSU Bachelor's 2000, U. Phoenix MBA 2005, Barry University Ed. D. 2012. All commemorated in threads at DI. People should be careful what they say about U. Phoenix. If it's good enough for Shaq, how can it NOT be good enough for anyone else? It could be catastrophic for anyone whose adverse remarks about Shaq's MBA school got back to Dr. O'Neal himself!! :)

The "Worm" moves to the beat of his own drummer. I predict Ambassador Rodman will play a key role in officially ending the Korean War.

Amazingly, his coach at LSU, Dale Brown, encouraged Shaq to leave LSU and enter the NBA draft. Pretty rare for a college coach--and presumably against his interests. But he felt Shaq had done all he could playing in college and it was time to move on.

Right. My take: This prediction will come to pass, right after Kim Jong-un scores 50 points in an NBA final!

I never thought of politicians as celebrities. I would say they are in a category of their own.
But since you mentioned those three: I have two less controversial examples.

    (1) Emmanuel Macron

Paris Nanterre University - Diplôme d'études approfondies / Master of Advanced Studies
Paris Institute of Political Studies - MPA
École nationale d'administration (ENA) - Graduated in 2004

Oddly enough, I wasn't able to find out when Macron graduated from Paris Nanterre University and Paris Institute of Political Studies.

But I find this even more remarkable (from Wikipedia):
In April 2019, it was claimed that a leaked speech to be delivered by French President Macron would announce that ENA would be closed as part of the solution to the Gilets Jaunes crisis. On 25 April 2019, President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that he will close ENA. In April 2021, Macron announced the closure of the school, calling the closure "the most important reform of the senior public service" since the school's creation by Charles de Gaulle in 1945.

So Macron closed one of his almae matres to solve a political crisis.

    (2) Angela Merkel

University of Leipzig(*), 1978 - Graduated in Physics, degree: 'Diplom-Physikerin'
University of Leipzig in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences of the GDR, 1986 - degree: 'Doctor rerum naturalium' (A German research doctorate equivalent to the PhD.)

    * Back in 1978 and 1986, University of Leipzig had a different name. Therefore, the Chancellor of reunified Germany from 2005 to 2021 is technically a graduate of Karl Marx University Leipzig.

Very interesting post - all of it. But you HAD get me started, by mentioning Karl Marx. You didn't know - so you're forgiven. We're still friends. :)

His ideology aside, Marx was a despicable man, whom I will loathe for all time. The insufferable things he put his own family through! Marx was an able man, well-equipped to earn a good living, but he renounced all paid work, due to his "principles." He had wealthy supporters who offered him well-paid writing work or, when he declined, outright gifts of money to help support his family - which he always refused. They lived in abject misery for decades, thanks to the paterfamilias' "principles."

At least one of Marx's children starved to death, as a result of his "principles." No genuine human being could allow this to happen.

Had I the power, I'd willingly close any of mine -to solve ANY crisis. Parking problem? Need a new shopping mall? Condos? Problem gone... :) Great schools -- two out of three, at least - but the Administration? All three -- Blagh!

At one College, I earned three certificates over a period of years. I later handed all three back, still in my frames, with an admonishment never to contact me again. So far, they have complied.
