I got curious, so I thought I'd check were GUST is located, physically. The US address is "Coastal Highway, Lewes, State of Delaware, USA", so presumably, GUST has a company registration in Delaware.

The registered address in the UK is CIEPUK, 40 Thorne Road Stockwell. That's where Marcel Okechukwu Ezenwoye https://ciepuk.org.uk/amb-prof-marcel-ezenwoye/ runs Concepts College/Concepts University from. The beauty salon Glam Pit by Jenny is on the ground floor.

Concepts College was one of the first UK schools accredited by ASIC UK, later Concepts became an affiliate of Saint Monica University Cameroon - the vice-chancellor of SMU was/is George Gonzalez (St Regis, American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation, UCN) and Concepts is a member/affiliate of California University FCE.

Saint Monica was also ASIC accredited for a while

Interesting. I didn't realize Concepts was still running. Silly me. One of the schools that CIEPUK says it can get me into is St. Monica (Cameroon) - I'll pass, thanks. Another interesting thingy they mention is that they could get me into American Heritage University of Southern California. Very impressive building shown - I think it belongs to another university. I'll run the pic through when I get time and see which one. Whatever facilities this AHU has are in Rancho Cucamonga CA.

American Heritage U. site says it has BPPE permission to operate. That's a pretty meaningless statement now. Accredit-or-die time has run out and sunset is upon the BPPE pretty well. They teach (taught?) business degrees and Law - I even found a Bar Pass rate somewhere for 2013 - 33%. I think this (apparently) unaccredited school's time has pretty well run out.

As I said before - interesting. Last I heard of Mr. Ezey or Ezenwoye was quite a while ago -several years I think. Back then, we were informed here at DI by mbwa shenzi that the Nigerian Police had detained him (Prof. Ezenwoye) for questioning - I presume re: the unapproved operation of one of his schools in that country. I looked up Concepts College today and found Concepts College and several other Concepts schools and academies etc. in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. I'm reminded of Brook Benton's "Boll Weevil" song from 1961 - "Just lookin' for a home..." :(

Fr. George Gonzalez we've met before - most recently in the UCN thread. Lot of interesting reading and schools referred to in the CIEPUK pages. Brings back memories for old-timers like me. Like this:

Oops! The pic of American Heritage U. on the CIEPUK page doesn't match the pic on the University's page -or Google's. The CIEPUK page shows a stately, traditional building of the late 19th Century - that I still think belongs to another university. Google shows a completely different pic - at the known address of the Uni. It's a very modern-looking building. The University's page says it occupies suite 210 in this building. I believe the Uni's own version.

Got it. The image on the CIEPUK site that's supposed to be American Heritage U. of S.Cal. Is actually the Henry W. Bloch School of Management at University of Missouri in Kansas City MO.

    Bye bye, CIEPUK!

Hold it! I back-checked this to make sure it was properly attributed -- and it ISN'T. I did a thorough search and there is no post by mbwa shenzi - or anyone else - on DI that mentioned that incident. I must have received that info from someone else, somewhere else. I probably read it on a now-defunct forum. There are so many.

@mbwa shenzi Mbwa - my sincere apologies for mis-attributing this info.

I decided to apply to Global University of Science & Technology (GUST) for the Doctor of Business Administration to see what response I would get. I was offered a honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree for a $2000 fee.

Did they also mention what a real (not just honorary) DBA dual award with Azteca or International European University would cost :D

No, but I have just inquired about rather or not a honorary DBA from GUST can be validated and dual awarded with International European University for an official degree. It sounds like the Costa Rican PhDs from several years ago that had been heavily criticized due to just paying a fee and being awarded an accredited degree with no work involved. GUST seems to be disguising this type of conversion of a diploma mill status to recognized degree status with using honorary in the title.

That's pretty much it. Except it doesn't really work, if the beholder knows anything. Bogus schools can only issue bogus degrees. Doesn't matter what it says. It's bogus. And I'm sure one can get the "honorary degree" evaluated as RA or whatever is wanted.

Someone could take just the $2000 deal and run the "Honorary Doctorate" through that um... evaluation thing that was mentioned earlier. Cost them maybe $200-300 for the "evaluation" - and they get another nice diploma with it, too. Says something about being from their captive "University"... :D

In confirmation, GUST does distinguish between the honorary degree and the academic degree so there is no validation or dual award with other schools for the honorary degree.

In other words, does that mean they don't teach or examine - they just send the "Honorary" diploma? ... If so, there's only one evaluator to call! "Hello, C....?" :D

I'm surprised that, for the umpteenth time, a school of this calibre has smelled up a two-page thread and gotten off with only a light thrashing.

In former DI days, this school would have been burned at the stake in a couple of posts and that would be the end of it. Now, "new frugalist" degree-seekers persistently poke through the last smidgeons of detritus in the bottom of the barrel. For them, there has to be some value, somewhere - and dammit, they're gonna find it, if it takes pages and pages...

C'mon, folks. It's game over, as soon as you see a school that's run by a known extremist - or does quadruple awards with other schools of its own sad ilk - or awards honorary degrees to anyone whose credit card will withstand the charge. This place probably violates all 75 of the Levicoff NIFI criteria -- and then some.

 Yeah for sure! It's fun to pick on these degrees though. They work for some who don't know any better. I'm not pursuing a degree from this school. In any case, I just wanted to report on this school with the communications that I have had since it is similar to a lot of the schools we have posted about as well as provide more info since I am the one who created this thread. FYI: The DBA by Thesis/Research is being offered to me for $6,000 which is roughly the same as Azteca/UCN degrees. I have one of those unofficially already.

    Email reply states:
There is a difference between Academic Degree and Honorary Degree:

Academic degree: an award conferred by a college or university signifying that the recipient has satisfactorily completed a course of study, kindly browse this link https://gust.education/dba

Honorary degree: a degree conferred to honor the recipient, kindly read this link https://gust.education/honorarydegree/

The Honorary degree isn’t equivalent to an academic degree.

If you need the Honorary Doctor of Business Administration (Hon. D.B.A.), we will maintain same special & exceptional fees. However, If you need to get the DBA as Academic Degree with transcript this can be done with DBA Research / Thesis.

PLEASE let us know, if you have any further inquiries / comments

Their website is a bit iffy too, their doctoral programs are not updated with the correct info, each of them shows the correct name, but the program info are a duplicate of the MBA. The DBA is the only "updated" doctorate, the other 3 doctorate degrees aren't, it's a dupe of the "MBA" program data. Such a sloppy operation overall...

@cacoleman1983 Sorry, Carlton. I misread what you said earlier. When you said "GUST does distinguish between the Honorary and the Academic degree - I mistakenly read it as "does not distinguish." OK - still not good, but it's at least a less fraudulent school than I thought. I'm still not enthusiastic about sorting through various uh ... degrees of deception, though. Perhaps I'll get used to it. Or not. :)

The standard route to use a Ukrainian degree abroad is to get a validation through ENIC Ukraine. I have severe doubt that anything from this arrangement could be so recognized. I'm sure regular degrees from International European University (including medical and dental ones) can indeed be so validated.

IEU is a very obscure school. I bet most people in Kyiv don'tr even know there ARE any medical institutes in town other than O. O. Bohomolets National Medical University (there are a few - IEU is not the only private one. All small and obscure).

Also, I wonder how these overly generic school names are received abroad. Years ago, my father had a part-time gig as a basketball coach at the "International University for Science and Technology" (in addition to his job as a PE instructor and coach at the Kyiv Polytechnic U.). He even put me on a roster, and I played a couple of games while a freshman (total nepotism; it's not that I contributed in any significant way). The founder-owner had a thing for sports and had sponsored or co-sponsored a few semi-pro teams, including my father's "main" one. My sister was actually on their volleyball semi-pro club that competed on Ukraine's highest level - as a 15-year-old High School senior and on her own merits as a sports prodigy. Unlike me, she DID contribute. Not a youth team, either: I believe one of her teammates was 39. Anyway, I was always mildly amused by the "IUST" name; "IEU" is even more amusing.

International European University in fact offers a Master in Medicine as well as Dentistry.
If the ukrainian state gives the school the accreditation to teach such vital subjects there should be substance in the school which is more than "obscure"????
However they seriously mention "Angela Merkel" and "Boris Johnson" as Honorary Professors which is breathtaking.

The President is Franz Volodymyr von
Habsburg-Lothringen. I wonder if he really is part of the Habsburg-Lothringen Royal House.

Does make you wonder if they just mailed Honorary Professor diplomas to BoJo and Merkel and then announced that they were honorary professors.
