    Am anti webcam proctoring.
Each school and service is different.
Stating that one must pan the room with the web cam that the student is in, before taking the test, is a bit too much for me.

Know of any online schools that do not require web cam proctoring?

How old are you? What kind of degree are you hoping to get?

ProctorU doesn't require panning the room. Athabasca uses them as their preferred proctor.

Eastern does not use any proctoring in their MSDS.

Maybe my english is not good enough to understand what you mean. You don't want to show your face and your room during an online test? Isn't that necessary to make sure that ist's you in person who takes the test?

This might be a school-by-school thing, or a policy change since I took ProctorU exams in 2017/2018. While I had to show the area immediately in front of me (the keyboard area) I never had to pan the room. If your experience is different, that is good to know.

Not everyone is comfortable with online proctoring, especially with various privacy concerns. Me, I can't stand ProctorU but am okay with RPNow. There are plenty of schools that don't require proctoring. Or there are degree paths where proctored courses aren't required.

Taking a TECEP, you definitely have to pan the room these days. I think people have said Coopersmith (which also uses ProctorU) is the same way.

Not really concerning being an online student but I am actually camera shy at work while working remotely. I never have my camera on unless requested.

You're not the only one who is camera shy, I don't mind using a proctoring service but don't prefer using it. Once I got the hang of taking 30+ StraighterLine and ProctorU exams, I didn't even bother looking back. Issues occur but once it starts working, I just look forward to getting the credits. Sophia.org is the best option now for Lower Level and it's not proctored, for Upper Level, you'll be required to have some type of proctoring for Study.com and ACE/NCCRS options. There are degree programs available that don't have any proctoring as it's mainly assignments and assessments, rarely any exams at all.

Wasn't there a recent legal decision where the judge said it was anti-constitutional (4th amendment issues I think).
I took a bunch of proctored tests with Pearson Vue and they have me upload 4 pictures of the test area around the computer, not panning the entire room.

Not sure whether the ruling depended on Cleveland State University being a public institution, or what will happen on appeal, though.

IMO, one of the best options for non-proctored degrees is UMPI. Super cheap when you use Sophia (no webcam proctoring) for as many credits as possible. If you can do one proctored exam, Biology 101L from Study.com helps. If you really, really can't/won't do proctoring, spend a little more money for a lab science from ASU. https://ea.asu.edu/courses/the-living-world-bio-100/ and https://ea.asu.edu/courses/habitable-worlds-ses-106/ do not have proctored exams. https://ea.asu.edu/courses/introduction-to-environmental-science-bio-130/ looks like it doesn't have a proctored exam either. BIO100 has been confirmed to meet the lab science requirement, you'd have to contact Jessica @ UMPI to ask about the others. They should work, though.

Finish up at UMPI for 2-4 sessions for a cost of $2800-$5600.

Correct me if I'm wrong but no "webcam proctoring" means that anyone can write the test in the name of anyone? Unbelievable that judges support this.

Not exactly. Verifying the ID and appearance of the person taking the test is allowed. Scanning their room, where you use the camera to pan around and show the whole space in which you are taking the test, was found to be an unreasonable search.

Not all universities have exams. Both UMPI and Purdue University Global have courses that are finished by papers/projects instead of exams. PUG has at least 5 papers/projects per class while UMPI has just one.

At Don Bosco, I not only had to show my ID and give them a 360-degree view, but I also had to give them remote access to my screen for the duration of the exams.

At UVI and my current institution, we use Respondus LockDown Browser. I don't use it though because my classes are writing intensive. The few quizzes I give are open notes.

Eastern used Respondus but then stopped in my third term, because of both privacy concerns and technical issues.
