Is he not entitled to due process of law?

I have been trying to stay tuned. I have not seen any such threats. Who is this "armed wing?" Anyone making any such threats should be arrested and prosecuted.

As you may remember, I became a fan of Attorney Robert Gouveia during the Sussman trial. I will be following his YouTube Channel as this situation develops.

There is a term for this, and it escapes me at the moment. If you claim that the sky is plaid, the onus is on you to prove that the sky is indeed plaid. You can't just say "of course it's plaid, go look it up". The burden of proof is on you. Asking for proof is a valid, and indeed good & encouraged, method of proof. Saying "because I said so" is not a valid argument.

Sure, but in the court of public opinion, he is not worthy of the level of praise his cult gives him. Any time he is called out on his crap, his followers make excuses. If it were anyone other than trump, those same people would have them tried & convicted on the hint of a rumor (i.e. Hillary Clinton)

I think she meant "defend" as in its use in the public arena, not the courtroom.

Again, people, hold whatever political views you wish in the political forum, but refrain from personal remarks about those you're having the conversation with.

I see both the personal attack and my response have been deleted.

In my response, I noted that he attacked me with unsupported assertions, then made the "I'll take my ball and go home" comment. Then I thanked him for his feedback.

By "Trump's armed wing" I mean, the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, the Three Percenters, etc.. They're itching for a place to go right now. After the 2020 election Trump aimed them at the Capital on January 6. Gave them purpose and a goal. Right now they're worked up into a tizzy but Trump has not yet focused their hatred at a specific target.

Making such threats is not illegal. Although I suspect that at least a few might have their plea agreements revoked if they haven't been signed off on yet.

Okay folks, we hear things and read things about the political news. That does not mean those things we hear or read are accurate. There's lots of spin and wild accusations being thrown around right now. Especially on the side that is most emotionally charged up about this topic.

Here's some tips. The second worst place to get one's news is talking heads. By that I mean shows like CNN, Fox, MSNBC or even worse Newsmax and OAN. There is no news Editor checking the author for accuracy. On the right you have Trump telling his lies and then Fox carefully using clips of Trump to repeat those lies so they can't get caught or blamed by fact checkers. (The worst place to get one's news is social media. This should be obvious why.)

Much more reliable sources for news are printed word or news on CBS, NBC, or ABC. I highly recommend MediaBiasFactCheck.com as a source to use to check on the general accuracy and bias for whatever news source one is considering.

I disagree with you completely. I had already resolved to maintain my sanity while discussing politics. This Virginian will not give in
to tizzies, hissies, conniptions, or any sorts of fits. [I will, however, attempt good humor at every opportunity.] I will continue to be courteous and collegial to everyone on this board regardless of how we express our political thought. That said from now until after our Thanksgiving Holiday, I will refrain from posting in this, the political discussion forum of this board. I will not argue politics anywhere else on this board. I will remain engaged in distance education discussions. I am fully engaged with IJF Course. I'll continue to remark on it and other education concerns. After Thanksgiving, I hope to return to this and other political discussions with greater vigor than ever. Meanwhile, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. <3

Hi Charles, I don't understand what you disagree with on my post. When I said, "There's lots of spin and wild accusations being thrown around right now." I was referring to the USA political environment not this forum. That post was not directed at you. I don't always agree with your politics but I always enjoy your posts. I hope my post hasn't driven you away. I wish you well no matter what you decide to do or where you decide to post.

Just to make sure I'm clear, here's my thoughts when I wrote my post that begins, "Okay folks".

Marcus made some false accusations and he was obviously very upset. I wanted to try to perhaps help him find more accurate sources for his news consumption. I also wanted to try to explain to the more Democratic leaning folks here on the forum that we should try to be a bit forgiving. Marcus is in some ways at the mercy of the news sources that he uses. The right bias news sources right now are really getting folks worked up.

My rule so, I can allow myself an exception: Bill - Thank you very much. I consider us colleagues. You have in no way driven me away. It's healthy to take a break from any one topic. I think it will be fun to pick up right where we left off in a couple of months. I'm still on board. Just taking a break from the politics for a bit. Remember the good old days when someone would Storm off and quit Degreeinfo forever, only to be posting again moments later. That's certainly not the case here. I admit I am jealous [jelly - as the young people say] that you are out there living in America's Finest City. All the best to you and the rest of our Degreeinfo colleagues. : ) <3

One of Trump's armed wing militiamen apparently just tried to attack and murder FBI agents in the FBI Cincinnati office. Thankfully only he was hurt. Reporting is that he was at the Jan 6 insurrection and posted his plan to murder FBI agents online.

Also Garland has called Trump's bluff and requested the court to unseal and make public the search warrant and the list of documents seized, both of which Trump already has copies of.

Washington Post is reporting that there were documents related to nuclear weapons.

Trump has not denied this, nor even commented on it. (Or on Garland's motion to release the warrant information.) Instead, he expressed his displeasure with the condition of Melania's closet left by the FBI.

But yeah, go ahead and vote for him.

How can we not have sympathy for the man though? Have you not ever been raided by the FBI and with the signatures and approval of all that you appointed?! Sigh… just like last time when it was scary in the White House and he had to ‘inspect the bunker’… the poor guy had to go ‘inspect Melanie’s closet’ during these scary times…. Thankfully he still has some friends, as Cardi B and Gucci Mane have lent him their ATL lawyer for the Georgia issues….

Some polling and especially focus groups say that most Republicans would definitely vote for Trump in a general election. The more hopeful news is that many Republicans desire a different nominee that carries less "baggage".

There's some confusion about the magistrate who approved it. Newsweek reports that he was not actually appointed by Trump. Instead, he was selected by a panel of local magistrates (or something like that).

I am not a federal judge but I understand that federal magistrates are appointed by the Circuit Court for ten year terms. They are not Article III judges who are appointed by the president or confirmed by the senate.

I heard what the new meaning of MAGA is. It no longer stands for Make America Great Again. It now means, Making Attorneys Get Attorneys. :D
