    Good day,

does anyone have any clue regarding how legitimate the University of America Curacao is? Thanks.

Can't say but a few data points:

They claim BPPE but don't seem to show up on the approved list: https://search-bppe.dca.ca.gov/searchResults?name=Curacao&program=&city=&county=&Submit=Search

They claim to be a religiously exempt school in Florida as well.

This sort of overkill smacks of an organization trying to paper over a lack of authenticity:

Open to being proven wrong of course!

Edit: Those outstanding academic achievements at the bottom look a lot like the letters I helped arrange from Members of Congress in a past role. You told them what the accomplishment was and they sent you what was effectively a form letter. Very out of place on a University accreditation page too.

…. And the website looks like it was thrown together by a 12 year old.

Yes - a very inept 12-year-old. At that age, most of my grandkids had 'way better web skills. We've been through all this before - and Johann766 knows this, because he contributed to the threads. According to someone here, knowledgeable in how Latin-American-orbit schools operate - this one has a setup in Colombia as well, and has a legit High School licence - nothing else. It sometimes manages to get its degrees accepted by a couple of other South American universities - not specified and I really don't think we need to know.

Hasta la vista, Universidad Americana! :p

Not on that list however AAC does not necessarily have to be the only recognised accreditation agency in Curacao.
Well I guess you are right anyways.

This is actually their better site. They have another one, the original, and it's WAY worse.

Thank you, LearningAddict, for NOT including a link. That was very kind. :)

lol, well, I figured I'd spare people so they could enjoy their lunchtime without seeing something that would make them throw up...

    ... but I can't promise dinner :emoji_smiling_imp:

Actually the claim to be exempt and that they are not listed by BPPE: "The University of America has fulfilled all the requirements and is not subject to the governmental oversight and is verified exempt by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education ( BPPE) with App. No #33890."

They do claim to be listed in Florida. I find no evidence of this. They are not listed as an approved university here.

I see one of their faculty is listed as the dean of the law school. Law school?

Other faculty bios seem lifted word-for-word from other resources. Perhaps that is a coincidence or a result of these people using the exact same bio on multiple sites. Or, perhaps, they don't realize they are faculty members at this school. That has happened before.

I checked a half-dozen randomly selected faculty members with unique names (to make them easier to find) on LinkedIn. They existed, but none of their pages reflected any connection with this school, while at the same time listing their academic affiliations with other schools. Perhaps that doesn't mean anything.

Oh, and I found a dead guy. Died about a year ago. Perhaps the school simply didn't update their faculty page yet.

No assessments; just assertions, open to corrections.

Yes, I believe it is. Small circle of friends. I also believe the University of America isn't exactly new:

UofA was ASIC accredited for a while. Here's some entertainment http://uapoly.org/yahoo_site_admin/assets/docs/UAcst_Brochure_2016_2017.260105146.pdf

Note the presence of people individuals associated with AAHEA, the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation, and Azteca/Central de Nicaragua, European Programmes. Assuming any of it is true, that is.

WOW! - a lot of familiar names - including the Austrian "partnership engineer" from Universidad Central de Nicaragua. BTW - I noticed that St. Monica Uni. site in Cameroon is also flying the ASIC flag. Popular flag - flying in many lands...

And U of A reads Degree Info sometimes. Years ago, I once commented they'd got the Latin wrong, in their motto. It was promptly corrected. Good for them. :)

And Blue Curacao is useful in "mixology." And, IIRC, also Orange and White. All a memory now, of course - I've been on a sabbatical from those "professors" for quite some years. :)

I have actually been looking at their site. It is awful. Tuition for their programs is roughly equivalent to a RA local school or NA online school. They have the UCN partnership just like Azteca because by themselves their programs are state authorized when taken through the US branch. Taking their programs through the Curarco campus which is also online doesn’t require the UCN endorsement because that campus has accreditation but you will still likely need the foreign credential evaluation after completing their programs.
