He heavily implies that the vaccine caused the increase in deaths, which is nonsense. I'm sure that there are a number of factors. People getting covid in 2020 but not dying of (seemingly unrelated) heart attacks, strokes, lung disease, etc. until 2021. Getting covid causes permanent damage to the body. Stress. With the state of the economy, more people are going to be worried about losing their homes, jobs, etc. Stress can cause heart attacks, etc. Exhaustion. People are working longer hours to put food on the table. Sometimes, 2 or 3 jobs. This can lead to an excessive lack of sleep, which then can cause accidents. Car accidents, falling down the stairs, etc. Starvation. Some people may be unable to feed themselves (properly), even if they have multiple jobs. You can die of starvation/malnutrition even if you're getting sufficient calories. Undiagnosed covid. A lot of places stopped testing dead bodies and/or made it difficult to get a covid test while alive, especially once the vaccines started rolling out. If you lived alone and just suddenly died in your sleep due to lack of oxygen from a covid infection, without a thorough autopsy, your death might be put down as "unknown natural causes". Even if it was covid. The above are just theories. Without seeing a list of leading causes of death for the past 3 years, it's impossible to have any idea of what's going on.
I didn't catch that implication in the video but I may have missed it. Can you timestamp a part where this happened? One thing he emphasized is that the majority of these deaths weren't pandemic-related and that the highest risk group where most covid deaths occur (elderly, 65 and over, more than 81% of covid deaths - CDC data) wasn't the group dying in this insurance claim matter, instead the deaths were overwhelmingly within the working age group, 18-64. So with that being the case, and there not being a clear-cut answer, all possibilities linked to significant changes that happened within that group in that year have to be explored.
Near the beginning when he's explaining the timeframe for the data. 2019 before covid is the "baseline", 2020 is only a 4% increase, then 2021 is after the vaccine became widely available. It's not so much what he said there, but how he said it. The comments are filled with antivaxxers who agree with that interpretation.

I get that they scale these things as a way to appear as fair and impartial as possible, but I don't care. A news source is either credible or it's not and I especially take that position if there have been credibility issues for decades like CNN has had. Now, I'm not fond of Epoch Times, but I find MBFC's judgment questionable when they write so harshly about them by adding "Questionable Reasoning: Conspiracy Theories, Pseudoscience, Propaganda, Fake News, Failed Fact Checks" but not for an outlet like CNN. I'm not disagreeing with MBFC on those things, but writing it for Epoch and not for CNN which has been guilty of absolutely all of those things over the years makes "MIXED" and "MEDIUM CREDIBILITY" totally laughable conclusions. I mean, at least MBFC admits there are issues with them, I'll give them that, but I see their rating as a possibly biased softer blow in comparison to Epoch given CNNs known history of garbage. CNN is not alone either. At the end of the day, there is a ton of crap that comes from all of mainstream media every day. Each channel/outlet picks a side (mostly political) and speaks from that side as if their positions and political figures are God-given and those on the other side are of the devil. They all do it. So I look for what I can find factual (as best as I can and mistakes get made as I am human) and what isn't factual regardless of the source and plenty of both can be found in each. It just so happens that video touched on many facts which don't change even though I'm not enamored with the source.
If there's a ton of garbage from mainstream media, why pick a fringe source that does even less verifying, has less stringent standards, less transparent funding sources? Because that one is saying what you want to hear. When 5 mainstream outlets say one thing and the Epoch Times says another, claiming that all media is garbage and then repeating what Epoch says is disingenuous.
It's like Lego. People play with little bricks of info instead of plastic. As happens with Lego - you can make a nice, interesting model - or a pile of crap. This is what they did. Food for anti-vaxxers. Anti-vaxxers are the people who kill folks like me - I'm 79. THEY get COVID - no problem. They give it to me - I'm dead ... and I still have stuff to do, dammit! I've had my four COVID shots. I know they're not foolproof - one person I know (one person) was fully vaccinated, got COVID and died. But they're pretty good - and likely will do the job as long as I stay away from anti-vaxxers and the like. Although there was (carefully) no direct mention, I construe post #7 as an attempt to bolster the evil gospel of anti-vaxxers. Nothing more, nothing less. They don't care about me - I don't care a jot for them. Or for any airhole in front of a camera who helps them in their "cause."
Since no one was praising the reliability of CNN, I'm unsure what point that's supposed to prove. If anything, it just shows that MBFC is not the tool of leftwing bias that many conservatives claim fact checkers are.
This time YouTube is off a lot. Because mostly I watch music videos on tube, 90%. Then some news, usually around war and US politics. And some religious content. So this time YouTube was off, but I maybe not because they got my curiosity. So the statement is incorrect because actually I don't watch this type of content at all. If anybody followed my posts on the subject, I advocated to follow CDC guidelines and am fully vaccinated with two booster shots.
