Oops sorry - Nakamura - I wrote the wrong name. Should be Nakamoto - but the meaning was right, though, for Nakamoto. I used to go to school with a guy named Nakamura, 60 years ago. Nakamura means "middle village." "Naka" appears to be "middle."

"Satoshi Nakamoto" may be a name for an individual, or one assumed by a group, but it's a perfectly acceptable name for a Japanese male. No need to grab syllables from corporate names. I think Westerners came up with that idea,.

I hate the brutal expression "dead cat bounce" but Bitcoin lost $600 today and is back at the $20,000 level. Of course, in THIS case, the "cat" was a plush toy and never was alive.

A lot of people believe that the late Hal Finney is Nakamoto, or at least is one of the group that used him as a collective identity. We'll probably never know. And ultimately, it doesn't really matter.

Right. I think it was Col. Hashimoto, in the tea-house, with a samurai sword... :)

I remember a cartoon from my badly misspent youth that featured a Japanese mouse who frequented a tea house. His name was Hasimoto? Maybe?

I need to clean up my written English. Too many clauses.

No. Unless it's unconscious memory. I don't remember such a cartoon at all. Never heard of a tea-house before "Tea-House of the August Moon" when I was 13. Just picked through my head to make a 'clue' line that was Japanese-ish. Name-location-weapon.
As to those clauses, I thought complex structure was expected of members of the legal profession - particularly judges. Am I wrong?

I think our patient is fibrillating, Dr. Nosborne. Bitcoin hovering at around 20,200-20,300. Not up or down. Here's a link so people can make their own pronouncements of doom -- or otherwise, so I don't have to. https://www.coindesk.com/price/bitcoin/ Chart by day, week, month, year, forever...

In fact, I thought complex was welcome - convoluted adored. My ISP agreement reads like a SCOTUS opinion -- and they're Canadians!

I HAD to look it up. Yes, there WAS such a cartoon - "Tea House Mouse" and his name WAS Hashimoto.
That was in 1963 - I was 20 and not watching cartoons - missed him completely. Good memory, Nosborne48!

My Hashimoto was not a mouse - he was a retired colonel in the Imperial Army. 'Clue' has a British colonel, so... I needed a Japanese one.

Standard legal disclaimer. "This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, business, events and incidents are the products of the author's imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons or mice, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental."

Around that time, 1963-64, I didn't watch mouse cartoons, but I did sometimes watch b&w TV - by that time I had an ancient one in my tiny bachelor digs, that cost me about $40 second or third-hand. I remember when Lightnin' Hopkins appeared on the Steve Allen show in 1964. What a show! First "Candy Mae," then Lighnin' smiled and said "I ain't got NO business singin' this song , but..." and delivered his own dynamite version of Ray Charles' "What'd I Say?" That song still gets to me, almost 60 years later. IIRC he was soon back for a second appearance and played "Chicken Shack Boogie." That one still 'gits' me and it 'don't let go.' :)

Steve Allen was a good musician himself (piano and vocals) and had great musical guests. Lightnin' was the second bluesman whose music converted me to the passionate addiction that is the Blues. First was John Lee Hooker and next, after Lightnin,' were T-Bone Walker and Muddy Waters. Now, there are at least a couple of hundred I love to hear.

    @nosborne48 Just looked it up.
"Hashimoto (橋本) is a Japanese name meaning 'base of bridge', from hashi (橋) meaning 'bridge' and moto (本) meaning 'base.' "

Right, right...one of the cartoonists was Japanese born so the cultural references should have been correct. Kinda amazing...I was born just nine years after WWII.

I was born right in the middle of it - 1943.

To change the subject back to crypto - $100 Million of it went missing today. Speaking of hashi=bridge, it was stolen through a "bridge" program that was hacked to grant access. Apparently, if you want to steal crypto, the "bridge" program is the one you fiddle with - crypto's Achhilles Heel.

I might have thievery in my blood. In researching my ancestry, I found that in England of the 1850s, no less than three of my male ancestors, including my great-great-grandfather and his brother (or his brother-in-law, I forget) were transported to Australia / Tasmania for donkey stealing. So if I'm around - watch your livestock! :)

And if I ever make it to Navajoland, Nosborne, maybe the Diné should watch their sheep. I don't think they have donkeys. Other tribes have had them, though. Navajo people do have wild horses -- too many of them, in fact. https://www.hcn.org/issues/49.20/tribal-affairs-what-will-navajo-nation-do-about-its-wild-horse-problem Maybe I could contrive to steal a few, and do them a favour. Maybe the neighbouring Hopi or some Jicarilla Apache folks would want 'em. I'd give them a break on the price.

Back to Planet Crypto - I was amazed to find over 120 different crypto coins listed on the CoinDesk page. This has all the earmarks of a craze. 120+ different kinds of thin air. At least with other crazes you GET something - even polyester "flare" pants in the 70s.

Kinda partial to one called "Smooth Love Potion" though. Makes me wonder if it works ---- at $.004, probably not.

The obvious thing to do is start a crypto coin of our own. Why not? Everyone else is. We will call it "IdiotCoin".
