    Here's a scary take:
What If 2020 Was Just a Rehearsal? - POLITICO

“The rhetoric is so overheated that I think it provides the basis for millions of people to accept an actual stolen election as payback for the falsely claimed earlier ‘stolen’ election. People are going to be more willing to cheat if they think they’ve been cheated out of their just desserts.”

"f the same state and local election officials are in place in 2024 as in 2020 — many of them Republican — Hasen is confident they would be able to stand up to Trump’s pressure to disregard the vote count and declare him the winner. But Hasen isn’t confident they will be in place. Many election officials are fleeing and, he says, are “being replaced by people who do not have allegiance to the integrity of the process.”"

I know I sound like a broken record, but corrupt elections apparatus and nihilistic populace fed with conspiracy theories is what keeps Vladimir Putin in power for, what, 30 years? The mind trick GOP pulled just gives away the things that prevent this from happening here.

There is a huge portion of our population willing to chuck aside our self-governing democratic republic when it does not produce the outcomes they desire. They're in the minority, but they're empowered.

This is the Republican caustic attack on our democracy in a nut shell. The dissolving of our democracy not unlike the dissolving of the body of the tourist that fell into the caustic pool in Yellowstone. Every single Republican that believes the Big Lie is a contributor and taking part in the dissolution of our democracy.

He definitely stayed in the hot acid pool too long. Just a second would have been too long for him but over night meant his family didn't need to buy a casket.

I think, you should feel protected from this, it was proven in 2020 that the US courts on all levels and the SCOUS will not cave in to pressure.

    Did you read the article?

Part of the reason courts got involved in 2020 was that (largely Republican) local and state elections staffers and officials resisted the pressure and did their job. Well, those people are still under pressure, and resigning in droves. Laws are being rewritten as we speak to disempower some of those who remain. I don't think it is about how I *should* *feel*, but rather about whether the nation IS protected. Is it?

Also, I know how lethal propaganda can be. I really do not like what people cook up on the Right. They have already co-opted droves of regular supporters (like, e.g., yourself) to spread their messaging. Again, just like some regimes that shall go unnamed.

(for like a second, because it's Russia. I'm talking about Russia and Putin. Sorry. Khuilo delenda est.)

Your side is not cooking? Come on, be serious. If anything Dem's are playing hard ball.
Unfortunately the nation is fragmented between major party lines, and the final contest for hearts and minds is going to be on the issues.
The highly criticized Afganistan plight, Border crisis etc, COVID.
Today are some of the issues, what will be in the year from now time will show.
For a reason the #'s of approval of the current administration went down, partly for the issues mentioned above.
But President is only in the office less then a year, time will show and partizan attacks are expected, when Trump was in office we had 4 years of Dem's non stop attacks.
I'm sure that some of what you are saying is happening.
    I trust our courts.

Here are two opinions, to be fair:

I know you believe it true. You've said it multiple times. Just for your information, MSNBC says the exact same thing about Republicans very often. It is Fox News and MSNBC bullshit. The main difference is that you believe it is true. I know that it is silly nonsense spread by both sides against the other side.

While it is true that Trump got more flak it is simply because he is a criminal. He has broken many laws. He has broken even more norms. For example, his constant lying and his now constant attacks on our democracy.

If not the COVID, He would be US president now.
And the whole post elections "drama" would be a different story.
Dem's would attack the elections process and RHC was already advising Biden not to concede even do she did in 2016. Who would be now Chinese or Russians ?
Saying this I actually like President Biden. I admit it.
But whatsisms is not for this time.
Now the 2022 as it should, maybe will be about performance and addressing current issues.
I fear radical left and radical right.

My point is that your statement about the Dems playing hardball is silly nonsense that simply demonstrates your sense of reality being warped by watching Fox News and other even lower accuracy news sources. I believe that your response shows the same thing. Although I also admit that this last post also demonstrates that you seem to have a real desire to be fair and have a more accurate view of reality. That is fully within your control.

For example in GA earlier this year Dem's mounted extraordinary campaign at the Capitol to derail the new GOP backed voting rules moving through the statehouse, the measure that would require ID for absentee voting.
Action group was bombarding the airwaves with dire warnings that the new rules on mail-in ballots will hurt Republicans as much as Democrats.
Democratic lawyers have promised to challenge the new measures in court.
All I remember is that outnumbered Dem's succeeded delaying the voting.
I don't recall the final outcome, but most likely it passed because of the GOP majority.
I will check. But I remember Abrams action group fought hard against this.
I think Dem's played hard ball wordy of mention.

THAT is what you call "cooking"?

Dems do not push silly conspiracy theories. Dems do not send death threats to election staffers who were doing their job. Oh, and did you hear about the Antifa member who tried to burn down a GOP headquarters? Oh sorry, that was a Trump voter throwing Molotov cocktail through Dem party office door, here in Texas. Second time that particular office got vandalized. That Fox News-watching guy had no prior criminal history btw - just like I'm sure you don't have it either.

    Again, here's what I quoted:
“The rhetoric is so overheated that I think it provides the basis for millions of people to accept an actual stolen election as payback for the falsely claimed earlier ‘stolen’ election. People are going to be more willing to cheat if they think they’ve been cheated out of their just desserts.”

Sure enough, here comes Lerner and says this:

I mean, talk about making my point for me!

The key part he said was "Your side is not cooking? Come on, be serious". FYI, this is a very typical way of thinking for Russian TV watcher. "Everyone is crooked, no one can be believed" is a sign of sober, adult wisdom. Ironically, people who think like that are the easiest to manipulate; it's no coincidence they are led into this mode of thinking.

What scares me s#tless is how this mentality gets accepted here. You surely can see how the masses on the Right are thinking this way already. Russian Internet meme for this is "Trampovata", recognizing that Trump base is just like the core of Vladimir Putin support, "vatniks" (or "vata"). This is what keeps a smart manipulator in power for decades and eats away at institutions. Russia has all the trappings of a modern republic; parliament, Constitution, Supreme Court, "civil society", the press - and all of it are hollow Potemkin villages. And the masses accept it, because "everyone knows" there isn't any other way. Everybody is corrupt, everybody steals, everybody lies.

If his management of the pandemic wasn't absolutely inept, he still would not have been re-elected.

I call it playing hard ball.
You take it out of content and distorting what I said.
    My reply was to Bill.
    About playing hard ball.
Distorting what I say is apparent with almost every post I make.
