Online DHA - 12 months - $15k

Congrats Alpine!!! I'm hoping to be next come this December. As you have noted very intense program but I'm met so many eat folks as part of my cohort as well as a few from the 1st cohort.

Thanks! You will be an alumnus soon. Have you heard any word on multiple graduation commencements a year? It's a big production so my guess is once a year. I drove over to LU and the campus looks like the Shangri-La of college campuses. It got me thinking that running a college requires lots of money, plain and simple. VUL is no exception! The school is underfunded and the on-campus kids deserve better. The online DHA will bring some much-needed revenue but the reality is, donations are needed. I've enjoyed reading both the positives and negatives about VUL on this forum. VUL certainly has the potential to be a great HBCU and university overall with everyone's help.

 

There will be one graduation for next May 2022 for cohorts 2 & 3 as I think they will get back to only spring depending again on COVID. I agree that the DHA program will be a revenue blessing for VUL. Also I would not be surprised if another doctorate program maybe in Leadership or Management gets offered in a few years. Besides being focused on religious studies the school's main purpose is getting those diamonds in the rough undergraduates an opportunity. So yes alumni will be asked in the future to give back. I too am happy and proud to be future of VUL

 

I was thinking maybe a DBA program will come next as they have faculty that has DBA degrees and our VUL DHA comes from the VUL school of business

 

Nope I can't see a DBA but I could be wrong. The school does offer a Masters in Organizational Management so leadership or management seems like a better fit. Really the DHA program is more leadership leaning as it lacks in health policy and I have included this as feedback in all of my course evaluation thus far. There aren't that many DHA programs out there which was a wise move for them to offer one. Regardless if they do add another doctorate there will be a need to hire more faculty.

 

Any opinions on the utility of a TRACS accredited doctoral degree for use in teaching college?

 

Not suggested as most colleges want regionally accredited degrees but not saying its not possible but very rare. Its more for professionals in the field for advancement as some occupations or workplaces do not mind an NA degree.

 

During the commencement, I saw a few graduates wearing "stoles" from their Greek Fraternity/Sorority as well as military branch of service. Not positive but I believe the regalia for this graduation was from Oak Hall Cap and Gown:

Congratulation to you, Alpine. I'm in my second semester. I got all As in my first semester. I've followed all your posts, but until now I just want to see how you've gone so far with the DHA program. I've already seen a lot of negative comments about the duration of the programs and accreditation and quality. I guessed if VUL had a large campus or a better accreditor like RA. Those postings wouldn't appear.
Now I see all your accomplishment. I just want to share with the rest. I used to take Harvard Courses and I saw VUL quality and teaching methodology are the same. I like the program and all the research papers I have to write every week. They are practical and more in real-life application. I don't like just reading textbooks and test on those chapters and concepts. Because nobody remembers anything after a few months later. The way the program is set up is very convenient for working professionals. I'm teaching full-time and studying this DHA program. It's amazing that I can balance my working life, family life, and school life. I don't have any bad comments other than appreciating all VUL professors. By the way, I got two Master's degrees and 1 Doctorate. This is very smart way to make use of graduate credits by VUL. Thank you for all the sharing.

 

Alpine, VUL sees its need. That's why it's hired Dr. Hammond to grow this little long histical university to compete with Liberty. Dr. Hammond has a lot of experience working for the local government and he taught at Liberty. I can see his potential to bring up this university. This little non-profit university deserves a lot of federal fundings and private donations. The strategy to diversify the student base will bring a lot of revenues to the University. The management is going on a positive path.

 

Compete with Liberty? That's laughable at best.

 

VUL has student representatives who infiltrate forums and Facebook groups to spy on students and promote the school. It's weird, unethical, and unprofessional.

 

I'd have to agree with you on that. Liberty is a nationally recognized university with many master's and doctoral programs including PhD programs, Virginia University of Lynchburg is very small and only offers a few programs. Being that VUL is a small school yes they offer a great focus on their students but they still lack resources and staff to expand programs.

 

These promoters would be more convincing if they could at least write at the middle school level.

 

There's just no competition when we compare the offerings of the two universities. Sure the DHA program can generate revenue for VUL but they would need to significantly increase their online master's and doctoral programs to become more competitive.

 

I am not saying I disagree with you, I just said the same thing.

 

I know that, sir. I was only adding my 2 cents as to why I don't think there is a competition.
