I just sent them a couple of emails asking more questions in regards to this CB CIS degree, hopefully we'll get more details.
If they allow up to 90 credits through ACE sources, this would be a very good deal, as 10 courses would cost $2500 for the degree!
That's my main question for them, haha... let's find out if they do or not allow that many through ACE transfers!

No Study.com and only a handful of Saylor/Sophia.org, apparently they only accept the credits from the ACE - ACP (now defunct). Good news is, if you have a bunch of StraighterLine, or Saylor courses, you can try. I would even try sending in Sophia/Study.com just in case they have a second decision on that...

Hi. I am very interested in this NSU BS CIS program, I am wondering the following:

    1) What is the limit of transfer credits from ACE recommend for credit sources? Is there a limit of say, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 credits?

ANSWER: There is not a limit on ACE credits that can be transferred in. However, there is a limit of credits that may be applied towards your degree and that will vary with your major.

    2) There is a 25% residency requirement for NSU Bachelors degrees, does this program also have a minimum residency of 25% of the courses? Example, degree is 120 credits, 30 credits must be from NSU.

ANSWER: There is a residency requirement for all programs. At least 25% of your credits must be earned from NSU and in a 120 credit hour program that equates to 30 hours that must be earned from NSU.

    3) I see you accept StraighterLine and some other ACP courses for transfer credit as Saylor.org, do you accept Sophia.org or Study.com as well?

ANSWER: We accept English Composition I, Approaches to Studying Religions, and Introduction to Art History from Sophia.org. Here is list of the alternative credit courses that have been approved for transfer https://www.nsula.edu/wp-content/uploads/Final-ACPE-Course-List-Updated-4-25-18.pdf. We do not accept Study.com credits.

I hope this information helps and please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

The price is a really good deal. I'm sure there are people who will find this useful.

I've been looking around for a competitively priced bachelors degree in an IT related field for while now. This seems like a good deal.

From the information provided, it seems like 10 courses (30 credits) have to be completed at NSU. I noticed another user mentioned a tuition fee of $250 per course. However, on the fee page it mentions $375 for the first 12 credits and then $100 for each credit after that.

    https://www.nsula.edu/ensu/tuition-and-fees/

    Cost for 30 credits:

    $375 * 12 = $4500
    $100 * 18 = $1800
    Total = $6300

Am I missing something here? Is it because of the difference between doing Competency Based Units and courses for credit? I'm from the UK, so I'm not completely familiar with the difference. I'm going to reach out to NSU to ask as well.

Also, I'm new to the forum. I'm looking at a second bachelors in an IT-related field. Computer Science would be ideal but I'm also open to other areas if the tuition is right. If anyone can point me in the direction of a cost-effective degree plan at another school in the US or overseas, I would be very grateful. Potentially, I would be starting from scratch because my first degree was completed in the UK. We don't do the initial first year of generic classes, which is common in US schools. Therefore, I don't think I have many credits that would transfer to a CS related degree.

At TESU, you can get a comp sci degree for right around $7500USD (probably even less). If you already have a degree, TESU waives the gen ed requirements so you wouldn't be starting entirely from scratch. If this sounds good, you can PM me or start a new thread so that we don't derail this one too much. :)

Thanks for responding. I think I may go for an online masters in CS from the UK because the fees are more affordable than a bachelors and it will be a lot more straightforward than trying to get 120 undergraduate credits in the US.
